Big hugs for Natty, Dave YL and Jojo, and anyone else who would like one.

I'm thinking of building an ark.....

On the plus side, we postponed this morning's jog until tomorrow, so I have truly had my backside in gear to get some jobs done. Bedding changed and queuing for drying space. Decided to make the effort to drive to and through nearest big town to go to Mr L. Who knew you could spend as much money as I did on there??? But I did get a couple of gifts that I needed for the weekend. Came back via Mr M, and got a couple more birthday gifts and some pansies for the garden. I think they had just had a plant delivery as flowers and plants were looking good. I also got a lovely bunch of freesias for £1, so I am going to follow the list and put them in the bedroom as they smell gorgeus.

Shopping sorted. Ironing pile cleared. Chilli for tonight simmering in the SC. DD getter wetter and wetter at camp. Off to check the smoke alarms and tidy the bedroom. And find some decent music to listen to, as what is playing the mo is dire!

More good wishes for Natty and Dave
Started the day badly at some unearthly hour this morning, couldn't sleep so went downstairs but lost footing, grabbed banister rail and nose-butted the rail. Ouch. Looks like Mr N's been beating me up now.
However, managed a run/jog before rain.
Blitzed kitchen - yep I'm days behind as usual, but pretty pleased as my MAD was clearing out a kitchen drawer which houses batteries, fuses, torches (3? including one very mouldy one that got binned), old phones/simcards/chargers, a million receipts (a few less now) and goodness knows what else. It now contains considerably less and has been vacuumed out. Just need to sweep floor now but sidetracked by adding some of the assessment scores up from yesterday.
Mr N is ironing. It's his birthday tomorrow, so we're going to the NH museum then have tickets for the proms, with a birthday meal in between.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Doesn't 'Fur Potatoes' sum up what the beasties look like? Suppose you could add 'Squeaking' at the beginning.

Did another conservation day today. Can't wait for the experience to be enough to get me out of actually having to do the physical work again...stopped work early and refused to do any more because the gents were all getting a little over excited and competitive with their tree chopping and forgetting that there are rules like not doing it when there's already somebody with the distance of a tree fall. And I'd actually ban people who decide to turn up in camouflage gear and whinge about having to wear a hard hat and take off their HV vest as soon as they think they're out of sight. The moral of the story, however, is that invasive plants suck. Don't plant them, folks, especially if your house borders open ground, because they aren't going to stay politely in your garden. And these days, it isn't anybody's job to deal with the environmental consequences of it. It falls to volunteers, some of whom are fitter than others and some of whom Have A Flaming Braincell And Don't Put Others At Risk.

I also now hate Cherry Laurel. Horrid plant. Poisonous, poisons the ground with the cyanide in its leaves, no use for anything other than blocking out all available light up to a height of about 8m and has horrid sap. It's not a decorative bush/hedge, it's a thuggish tree which suckers and poisons and typifies the phrase 'no use to man nor beast'.

As I didn't sleep very well (ie, 90 mins at 7am) last night, been in bed since 5pm, got up for Himself to make soup and he's apparently going to do more cleaning. I feel really dehydrated (how? I got soaked today) and headachey with a really dry mouth, so I'm going straight back to bed afterwards.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

Evening all - oh for a day without rain, bit much now.

Hugs and coping vibes for Natty and Dave

Happy Birthday for Mr Narco for tomorrow

Well, now I've pulled out the rest of the storage it is now at the point of no return and the 'stuff' is everywhere. There really isn't any clear space apart from in the bathroom and kitchen and at least I've S&Sd those ! Beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed atm - but it is really the best way to do it and it has made me even more determined to have a cull.

I have swept/sucked all the storage areas, brushed down the walls and washed the paintwork and floors there, as applicable.

So I called it a day at about 7.00, cooked and ate, WUDUPA and wiped over the bunkers. Just watched a very silly, but funny, film, going to read for a bit and then bed.

Hugs, sticks and spoons if you need some
Hope you all have a great Thursday

Morning all. Happy birthday to Mr Narco, enjoy your day.

I'm going to do some paperwork this morning and maybe something from the list before the paid stuff.

    Have a great day everyone.

:rotfl: I love this! "Squeaking fur potato". Made me laugh like the description of an ostrich as a "pantless thunder goose", the alligator as an "American murder log" and the porcupine a a "stab rabbit". Sorry, but these really tickled me :D

Happy birthday to Mr Narc0. 21 again?

Kitchen is in. I wasn't sure I liked it yesterday  but now it's finished, it's growing on me. DH insisted on an oak design - I wanted it painted but as I got to choose the granite, I had to let HRH have a say. I've had wrought iron handles made and they are being delivered on Friday. Templating team should be here by 11am today and I have to order the cooker, arrange 2nd fix electrics, get the boiler re-installed, the underfloor heating connected, order the toilet for the wetroom, bid on an oak unit on eBay, choose a river rock sink, measure up for a slate worktop, a vanity top, alcove shelf and window sill...oh, and entertain the boys, nip round to a friend to collect some washing, pickle some eggs, worm the pets...

But first, I MUST brush my hair today.

Haha he was more of a "grunting fur potato" if we're being precise. I've never heard this one squeak, but he does give the most fabulous dirty looks :rotfl:

Been to post office to return an item, have been charged postage, and it wasn't even the item I ordered. Pfft. Email duly dispatched requesting a refund.

I'm going to wipe out my fridge this morning! Then I might attack kids wardrobes...
