Yesterday I was grateful for another NSD, a sunny day, sitting in the garden, spending some quality time with OH, a walk along the beach and yummy chicken fajitas for tea.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86

Stocked up on washing liquid and fabric softener whilst it was cheap and got some ys fish. I love getting cheap fish because it's normally so expensive and we eat a lot of it. Lots to to today. One washing load on, an ironing mountain to clear and have to clear the kitchen and bathroom cupboards as we're having our annual gas check tomorrow. It was checked before the building work was started and will be checked again if it's ever finished (distinct lack of workmen over the last week) so why it needs to be done now is beyond me.
Anyway grateful for a walk to the shops yesterday and an otherwise quiet day (think I'm still recovering from the day out on Friday).
Have a good day.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
Hello,
another spendy but productive weekend. Got a secondhand MTB for us to train on (found a wee shop that built them up from "scrap" parts) and finished off the kids play area with a frame and some bark on the ground. Also painted the back of the fence, bought and framed a picture, cleaned the oven (can see through the window again :T), cleaned the bbq and a few other bits and bobs. Now just need to focus on what we have achieved rather than what's still left on the list .
Had roast chicken last night and for the first time masses of meat left as I bought the biggest I could get. That'll do for another two dinners I think :T.
Tonight (as I couldn't muster the energy last night) I'll do my lunch food prep for a week or two and maybe seed some more herbs for the kitchen window sill.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -
Evening all,
As predicted Saturday and Sunday were both spend days. I visited a friend so paid for train fare, then had to buy a few toiletries and do a small top up food shop.
On Sunday I was volunteering in the morning, then treated myself to lunch in a local tea room before going horse riding. Felt quite unwell and incredibly bloated and painful as the afternoon went on. I have IBS and something I ate really did not get on well with my stomach so last night was spent in a fair amount of pain! Didn't get all of the household jobs done but not too concerned.
Felt better this morning, checked my accounts to see how much the train fare was as I used my contactless card and I've gone 5p over my £20 unallocated money for the week. I think I'll let myself off that one lol.
I have chiropractor again this evening - is it bad that I've already got fed up of going there after 3 weeks?! They've recommended 18 months' worth of treatment to try and fix all the problems with my neck and spine so I've barely even begun!
Today will be a NSD although not a healthy day - did manage a quick walk this morning but have been naughty today foodwise. Got a few days off later this week to visit parents so it's a short week at work. Am looking forward to the time off.
Went through my proposed September budget this morning as I desperately need a hair cut. I've decided to try and get through the month spending as little as possible and then see how much I have left. I'm guilty of spending too much at the start of the month thinking it'll be fine and then being skint at the end... September will be tight overall but I HAVE to focus on getting the credit card down and also saving. I've been through much leaner times before so this is definitely doable.
Am now up to 13/18 NSD's and 17/20 healthy days.0 -
More spends today at Tesc0, including a calculator for DS2 for school (if anyone needs a scientific calculator, Tesco have the Casio FX83GT Plus for just £5.50
)
Have still been using up things, although have also had to throw some things from freezer after DS1 left the door ajar for around 20 hours..... Today's use up was another part bottle of anti-bac cleaner brought back from DD's uni halls and some hotel tea and coffee sachetsYesterday I made a large bolognaise mainly with things from the freezer, inc 2 packs of cooked mince (from where I cooked large packs but only used some of it), YS chopped onion (10p for a large pot), YS courgette (10p), lots of HG tomatoes, most of a bag of value peppers which had been loitering in the fridge for a couple of weeks and the last of a pot of garlic granules also from DD's halls
Two more small things sold on flebay, netting me a further "13.31 after all costs - bringing my total of money in for the month so far to £22.93. Not really good enough. Actually posted the boxes of books off to Z1ffit and MMagp1e today and have listed a large item (over £200) on flebay and will list some smaller stuff later.I am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Failed to sleep last night so did bits of tidying and was at mum's first thing - 9am but the community nurse had got there first. I phoned the doctor's on Friday and got us out of going to the infirmary to have blood taken and sorted a prescription item. Nurse had taken the blood and will let the district nurses know they don't have to come out. New anti-biotics working well, no crackling in mum's chest. nurse is so pleased that she will come again in 5 weeks (has been 2 weekly).
Told her that mum had been struggling to eat but within days of starting the antibiotics she was asking for eggs, bacon and tomatoes.
I have put up the row of cup hooks mum has been wanting for a while and tackled the shed - everything out, large items re-arranged and things put back in groups (paint/ gardening etc) and lots of items away in the drawers. More work for another day but satisfied with progress.
Played with 4 month old baby girl twins this afternoon and the 4 and 8 year olds helped me putting things away in the shed - their mum was extremely pleased as they used up some of the energy and the babies could sleep in peace.
Think it will be an early night for me. Beloved is not back yet and has not phoned to say when she will be back so I still have time to work on re-arranging furniture.
Today I am grateful for food from mum's freezer, making good progress, improvising with tools (mum's partner's children have taken most of his tools not thinking that basics like a hammer would still be needed - going to take DS3's there, they are bright pink so none of them will take them) and for having the foresight to leave several cans of diet coke and a large bottle of fizzy water at mum's.
NSD today and sat with my receipts from Saturday and the £2 cow (money box) covered all the spending with £62 left over.My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -

Fmess - you seem to buy new dog beds on a regular basis! Do they munch them?!NST March lion #8; NSD ; MFW9/3/23 Whoop Whoop!!!0

Apple only one of them does and he's been relegated to having old duvets in old duvet covers when I'm out of the house. I always feel like I'm buying dog accessories (beds, bowls, crates, stroller!! etc). The last dog bed was purchased in November and again was linked to the building work as the dogs have to stay in separate crates so that there's no risk of the builders letting them loose if they leave a door open whilst I'm at work. But one has been scratched and chewed and eventually unstuffed and partially eaten in the last 10 months so I needed a replacement.
Today was a spendy day as I bought chocolate and cheese.
I am grateful for:-
- the fancy temporary gym membership and a lovely swim
- more temping work
- the builders starting tomorrow
- good friends
- a great family
- my boys (dogs and cat)
