Eager - what is hemp milk? I'm lactose intolerant and wondered if it's any good? I've also been reading about hemp-based stuff to help with arthritis but need to do more research - I suppose when I read the word hemp my mind automatically thinks about the negative associations with it not the other uses!

This is what I am drinking - https://www.goodhempfood.com/blog/product/good-hemp-milk-soya-alternative/

I have not drunk cows milk for years, I gave it up after I accidentally drunk some that was off and now the smell of it makes me retch. So I moved to soya milk but after going to see a Natural Allergy Therapist she has diagnosed intolerances to soya (as well as lactose, almond, oats and loads of others) so that restricts me somewhat in the milk department. she suggested hemp milk which I couldn't find but 2 weeks later I have found in it Co-op's and in large Asda supermarkets.

I actually prefer it to soya as it does not curdle in coffee, I can only find the normal one which has a slight vanilla taste which was odd in coffee to start with but now I am used to it.

Asda sell it for £1.55 per litre and Co-op for £1.99 per litre - its expensive when compared to soya milk but you don't need much in a cup of coffee so it lasts for ages.

We had the home visit and unfortunately we won't be getting the dog we wanted as they didn't feel there was enough outside space for him. They suggested that we look for a smaller dog so we'll have another look. I'm not particularly keen on small dogs though, childhood memories of a neighbours jack russell really put me off but we'll see what we can find.

    .

Sorry to hear this misstara - was this one of the big 'rescue' places?

If it was I suggest a smaller rescue as they are more amenable to people who work/people who live in flats/people with small gardens.

If you are wanting a bull breed than All Bullie Rescue is where we got our American Bulldog from - they have dogs all over the country and they are very honest in their descriptions.
Also Large Breed Rescue are another great rescue - again they are very honest and assess all their dogs so you know what to expect when you rehome them.
  • Managed a NSD on Tues but yesterday was a spend day as DD having a sleep over tonight so we got sweets/cakes/drinks/pizzas last night.

Not sure how much sleep there will be tonight!!

Hope everyone has better weather today - the rain is supposed to have cleared this morning so we might even see some sun!!

No it was a really small local rescue centre but they wanted a larger properly enclosed garden. Thanks for the info, I'll take a look but not sure if either of them operate up here. We live in North east Scotland and I think choice is limited to the small local one or a Scottish SPCA one.

Need to pop to the supermarket today for a few things but aiming to spend under £10. Looks like it's going to be a gorgeous day here so me time will consist of sitting in the garden after work with a book and a g&t :D

  • Morning all :hello: :coffee:
Didn't get on yesterday because we were out all day at a theme park.
    Gratitudes:
Catching up with friends that I don't see very often
Getting 2 for 1 entry at the theme park
Weather staying dry while we were out all day

Sorry to hear about the dog misstara :(

I'm tired today so planning to do nothing very much. I may well bag another nsd (which are few and far between in August for sure). DS has his friend here all day again and I'm tired after yesterday so a nap may well be in order. I woke up before 5am so it won't be a massive surprise.
Other than that I'm almost up to date with my current CAL and will put that in the loft and swap it for another one needing some work. I have a film to watch as well. If I need to go out it will be to pick up an online order from Mr A (the last of the school uniform) and I need to sort vet appointments for 2 of the cats - no big deal - they need some injections.

Right - time to get on... Have a good day all. :)

    Hello,

very productive night last night. Dh went for a swim after work, bumped into a mate and ended up in the pub. How do men do that? Never happens to me. Anyway, had a productive evening though, got the kids fed, washing, dishes etc done, the cleaned the car inside and out, weeded the garden and a few other bits and bobs. And once the kids went to bed I did some crochet. Taught myself a new stitch for my book cover.

DH noted how much calmer I am with the kids after my weekend away and I noticed it too, so will definitely make that a yearly event to get the head cleared.
Today should be another SFD, gym and healthy lunch. Will prob need a few things from the shop tomorrow like toilet roll and bread.

Looking fwd to Monday, the kids bunk bed will get delivered and I'm off anyway as the nursery has yet another inservice day and I might finally get some more painting in our bedroom done.

Not much to report. Have been to mum's but not done much - more paperwork brought home but have tomorrow off. Tired all day - as in, poured a cup of water for myself and it went over the top, all over me, my nightie and the bedclothes (one side ran down to my side and back and the pillow behind me).

Today I am grateful for the people across the road using all the plant pots I gave them - decking is done, they have planted some trees, painted some tyres and the plants in large pots (many of which I recognise) are lined up along two sides of the decking (it's a long triangle). Grateful that the knitted squares are fewer than I was expecting ie manageable (not taking the house over) and for the good weather drying out my nightie - may need to wear it tomorrow because I think I have run out of clothes.

Today I am grateful for getting lots of sewing done, for chilling out time with dd and dh, for getting out for a good walk, for finding a playground whilst out walking, for glorious sunshine, for badminton with dd, for a good book, for fresh water, for good food, for not getting attacked by seagulls.

  • Another NSD so I'm at 4/15. Getting there slowly!

Nothing much to report today - usual day at work, did some stuff, came home. I never had that hot bubble bath the other night though so I had one tonight stead.

I weighed myself this morning and was pleasantly surprised at the result - nearly down 2lbs. Don't imagine it'll last but it's good whilst I've got it!!

    Gratitudes
    1) Tom made dinner :)
    2) my manager has agreed that I can work from home on Monday due to the system outage. I made a point saying it takes me an hour to get to work and we have to start at 7 to get our allocation done.
    3) finally having my bath and 'me time'
