16/21 for me please. Would have 17 but I had a glass of wine to celebrate a friends engagement. In the past it would have been a bottle so i'm happy at a glass.

Brilliant, Mudbath. Being able to stop at one glass is what it's all about.
I'm worrying in anticipation of a 3 day conference starting tomorrow and 2 nights away from home.

This would be my cue to pick up 3 or 4 bottles of wine for the duration and hide in my hotel room in the evening solitary drinking.
Not this time I hope, planning to take a bottle of elderflower cordial to help me through and also my swimming cossie as the hotel has a pool.

Any advice would be very welcome

    Jo xx

Take anything that keeps you occupied that you enjoy - a jigsaw puzzle, a sudoku book, your knitting, a novel you've been meaning to read but didn't have time for, anything that you can't do if you've had a few, basically. And, check out the local listings for the area the hotel is in - theatres or cinemas within safe, easy walking distance or an affordable taxi ride. I don't enjoy being massaged and 'pampered' but some people do and the hotel may offer that kind of thing and it is can be relaxing. Can you think of it as being a mini-break away from the housework and cooking, a holiday to be enjoyed even if you have to work during the day?

    22/31 please, Shaggy.
    Better is good enough.

Checking in early today as working until late so 17/20 for me please.

Thanks Honey Bear...it's nice to know that I can stop at 1 though I have to be really conscious of it as it's too easy to slip into the habit of two...three...oops!

Scatterbrain - I second what Honey Bear has already mentioned...things to keep you busy. If you do enjoy pampering yourself then take facemask etc from home and really go to town. Could you watch a film or a mini series you've always meant to see on your laptop? Hope you get to enjoy your time away

What do we do when we fall? We get up, dust ourselves off and start walking in the right direction again. Perhaps when we fall, it is easy to forget there are people along the way who help us stand and walk with us as we get back on track.

Definitely agree with any distraction techniques that take your fancy. I remember well taking wine with me whenever I was staying in a hotel.:o

It did occur to me that unless you really want a break from other delegates then there will probably be people in the bar doing Dry January so if you want to socialise don't let being AF stop you.:)

I have got some planned drinking events this week but will get enough AF days in to get my next smiley.:D

    13 AFDs please Shaggy.
