I remember that that feeling well. When I first cut down I drank gallons of water every evening. I needed a glass in my hand.:o
Now I promise myself a cuppa when I get home from a long day but isn't that what 'normal' people do!:D
Yes exactly, maman - perhaps it's a bit like cutting down on smoking, where people seem to miss the whole act of smoking and the paraphernalia surrounding it, the going and hanging round outside the office building with the other smokers and the taking a drag on the ciggie, as much as they do the actual feeling of filling the lungs with nicotine - hence all those elaborate substitute inhaler things that are now on the market? My boss has been trying to give up, with difficulty.
I think at first you do feel you need a substitute drink but over time you lose that habit. It means life has got even cheaper again as I not only spend barely any money on booze but now I don't even buy ginger beer!0 -

Jumped on the scales last night and lets just say giving up has meant a shocking weight GAIN for me:( No great surprise as I have a constant hunger so have been eating lots more. Just disappointed that even with the calories saved from my drinking I am still gaining. I had the same when I gave up smoking so I know it will normalise eventually but its not good for motivation. Tempted to buy a pack of 20 and a case of wine as the new diet :rotfl:
I had lost 4lbs the first two weeks using my fitness Pal to count calories. It's creeping back up now as I'm having more chocolate/sugar for the tiredness0 -
Good morning,
19 please Shaggy

Baileys I know it's disheartening, but if you gave up smoking you know how much better it feels when things stabilize. The adjustment period isn't comfortable and we indulge ourselves to get through it, but as you know - it's temporary. Someone on the Flylady thread has said she isn't going to diet but will weigh less at the end of each month, which I think is a great way of losing weight slowly. As far as I'm concerned January doesn't count because we're finishng up the [STRIKE]crap[/STRIKE] stuff bought for Christmas, but after that a 1lb loss a month would be very welcome.
19/31 please, Shaggy.Better is good enough.0 -
18/25 for last night. Friday is my difficult nioght and I have had to come into the office (normally work at home on fridays) - hoping that won't make it even more difficult to resist a drink tonight as I think I see it as an end of week reward.
I'm now on the home straight though and the end is in sight (Friday next week) so that should keep me goingWhat goes around comes around.....I hope!0 -
19/19 :j will need to carry on now though
Thanks new me and honey bear I guess I was hoping to see lots of weight gone and it was disappointing anyway it gave me a bit of a rocket up a rude place so I am moderating the amount I eat re sugar now. Not too much as the priority remains the booze. Now on to beating my target0 -
19/31 please Shaggy0
