Tell me about it. I'm now living at my boyfriend's house while we wait for our joint purchase to complete - sounds great, but there isn't room for his kids and mine here, so it gets super stressful when we have them all at once, and overnight visits involve sofa sleeping. We got our memorandum of sale in mid January, and we are still waiting on both of our buyers' searches to come back (one due this week, one end of next). No idea why, as our searches for the same area didn't take long and we were last to join the chain. Sigh. So same here, waiting on something, anything, to happen.amandacat said:I sympathise with everyone who is frustrated etc
I’m completely fed up, have been staying with family for 6 weeks since selling and really thought we’d be further along the buying process by now.We are buying a chain free property that is empty, memo of sale was sent 11 Feb and since then all that’s happened is my searches were ordered 4 March (no idea why it took so long when apparently it’s a 8 week timescale for them to come back)
I also received the fixture and property forms in the first week of March but was told there was stuff missing from other solicitor. Since then two weeks of silence. Chased for an update yesterday but not return call yet.Feel like I’ll be lucky to complete by the time by mortgage offer expires in August at this rate :-(1 -
Well it looks like we exchange later today or tomorrow, I'm just waiting for the bank details to come through so I can let a huge amount of cash pass through my fingers like water over a fall.
Completion is Friday!
Please excuse me while I go and do a little jig in the corner...Nothing is foolproof to a talented fool.4 -
This is my biggest fear! Also, my buyers have only seen our house for a total of 10 mins (plus their surveyor) so I'm getting worried about them not loving it when they move in - this might be me just being paranoid though because the house currently looks a state while we're in boxes and haven't cleaned yet.parkingadvice1212 said:Got the keys 30 minutes after the contractual time yesterday and been busy cleaning and unloading since.
unfortunately it’s in a lot worse state than was visible at the viewings with all their things in the house. Basically all of the upstairs wiring is run along the walls instead of inside it and there’s some really dodgy looking switches and sockets, there’s a massive black mould growth in the bedroom that was hidden by a cabinet, the lights in the second bedroom don’t work, and it really needs a new kitchen and bathroom at some point.. plus behind where they had their washer dryer there’s not one but two massive tumble dryer vents that are completely open with the cold air blowing in!!
5 days to completion for us now! Our seller who said no to completion w/c 15th March and nearly said 22nd is too soon has now apparently already vacated, meaning we could have been in this weekend rather than Monday, but oh well!0 -
i keep noticing little stains on my kitchen worktop that wont come out without being sanded down, or little marks on the skirting board s that i cant get out, scratches on the door posts etc and having horrible nightmares about being sued by my buyers lol
@timmins91 last week my buyers wanted me to accept a weeks notice for completion, i couldnt as i didnt have anywhere to move to. now ive found somewhere, ive offered to complete in a week only for them to come back and say it wont be long enough for them to get their funds from their mortgage provider. hmmm.... as you said: oh well!0 -
I keep trying to tell myself that the heating, plumbing and electrics are in fully working order, we have no mould/damp and the house is structurally sound so really all they could complain about is some shoddy decorating or wear and tear! I've double checked that the loft is empty though based on a thread on here recently...lillypoo said:i keep noticing little stains on my kitchen worktop that wont come out without being sanded down, or little marks on the skirting board s that i cant get out, scratches on the door posts etc and having horrible nightmares about being sued by my buyers lol

I've only seen the house i'm buying for about 10 mins, and it was dark outside, so never actually seen it in daylight. Bit nervous!timmins91 said:

Oo email from our solicitors!
They’re still waiting for some searches back but the sellers have agreed to aim for a completion date of 23/04!Exciting!2 -
I’ve given up hope! Over a week since we signed everything in readiness for exchange, exchange didn’t happen on Friday, and this week we are still waiting for this last enquiry!
I swear I’m going to have a breakdown soon, Hubby also doesn’t have anymore leave as he requested for the 7 days between exchange and completion, but exchange hasn’t happened 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️0
