Good luck - it must be stressful for you with 2 babies in the mix too, hope you will get good news today 🤞🏻Becksina said:Another day in boxes and no progress. Doing simultaneous exchange and completion but we have no clothes, no food etc everything is packed to go at a moments notice and with 2 babies that is NOT fun. I really hope we hear today0 -
It sound stressful and like everything is not quite as it seems at the top - maybe the daughter and husband own the home and it’s their business/them who have moved to London?? It would make life so much easier if there was more transparency in the process for all involved...is anybody below you on a deadline to complete?BountyBlink said:
Thank you! So, we were originally told that the top of the chain were an older couple but not “decrepit” but that they have lived there 35 years and have a list of expectations of what they want. We were also told that their buyer (2 properties above us in the chain) were in direct email contact with the top of the chain and they had told them that they would vacate once we were at the point of exchange.Anty21 said:
Thank you 😊BountyBlink said:Congratulations to those that have exchanged, especially to Anty as have been following your story... you give the rest of us taht are muddling through this intrepid house purchase / selling fiasco real hope!!!I’m so annoyed about our chain! So we still don’t really know what is happening at the top... whether they are moving out into rented or looking. The agent we are buying from just doesn’t know, I’m half tempted to send a letter to our seller but I have no idea if that’s the done thing or just best to just wait and see what happens?! Houses are coming on the market in our price range but nothing rivals the one we want to buy and so we feel we just need to hope and pray the top of the chain either find something or move out. They accepted their offer on their house 23 December, we understand they are elderly but it just feels so slow and they haven’t even instructed solicitors! This is 3 houses above us... just want some good news, would love to hear from anyone that has waited same kind of time as we have for the top of the chain to get sorted?????
I have no advice re the top of your chain, as our experience saw our chain complete within 2 weeks of our offer being accepted.....
I do think that less properties were being marketed after Christmas, and the lockdown may have impacted peoples ability/willingness to view. The agent you are buying through should be able to chase the chain for information via your vendors? Surely everybody wants to understand their position.....I found that the best way to gain any information, I hope you have news soon so you understand where you’re up to 😬That wa sin January... then last week when the rest of the chain below the property we are buying were in a position to exchange my agent chases the top for an exchange date of end of March and then a flurry of emails between all agents ensued (no vendors were copied in unfortunately so we can only go on what agents have told us) my agent said that the top of the chain has no intention to go into rented and they haven’t even instructed a solicitor. However the agent we are buying through although agreed with most of what my agent said also said that searches for that top property had been ordered even though they hadn’t received solicitor details and they were “cracking on”
min the meantime my 21 year old son and me have been doing some internet digging. The house at the top was bought in 2003 so only 17 years not 35 years they lived there. On the voters roll are a married couple in their mid fifties. A company was registered to that address Until January this year and on the company’s Facebook page the last update post says “we have moved house to London and will be producing more items ASAP”
so we relayed this information to the agent we are buying through and then they tell us that the buyers of that property are in fact in contact with the daughter and husband and not the elderly couple that are living in the house on Isle of Wight. So we can’t really gauge what is happening... it’s so frustrating...
we assume the daughter has told the buyer to crack on and she will liaise with the parents?? We just don’t know and it’s so stressful 😩😩😩

Congrats to those who have exchanged, awesome news!
Another day with no news. Enquiries are still AWOL, our solicitor is not responding. It's now been 2 months since our chain completed, and we are still waiting on our buyers' searches to come back (due by mid/end of month), even though ours were fairly quick. Can't see any end in sight, and now I've had to move out of my rented flat and into my boyfriend's small house with 4 kids between us, the lack of space is really hard.

Zen, but they use Openreach so any ISP except Virgin will face the same long lead times.Insomniac101 said:@parkingadvice1212 woot!! Which company?? We are hoping to set up two lines, one with Virgin for streaming etc and a Sky broadband for work
Definitely can’t wait till May!!
It's because we need an engineer visit to set up FTTP.
I've set up a monthly rolling contract with Cuckoo for an FTTC service which is going live a week after we move in, and will do until May.
Highly recommended. 1 -
So looking to exchange by the end of the week, and complete the following week, but we can't get any removers, so have asked if buyer and seller can do midweek of the week of the 22nd.... I just want this to be over
