We were meant to be exchanging today but no news so it seems like another instance like we had a couple of weeks ago where they said we would exchange and didn't

I think I'm screwed - no responses from anyone. Buyer says that's it he's out but I don't know how that's made official. Could be bluffing I'm not sure. Seller has gone silent for 5 days - EA won't give me a firm answer when I ask for commitments on dates.
I just don't get it - they've been the perfect seller right up until exchange. Not one issue - now this

It definitely sounds like there's an issue at the top or cold feet of they've suddenly gone quiet. Fingers crossed you at least get some answers....

How upsetting for you! Did the top originally say they would go into rented? With the stamp duty extension are they now considering waiting to buy? 

So frustrated myself. No more news this afternoon even though I was promised an update call at lunchtime. Days just turn into weeks, and living in limbo with no certainty on anything is very stressful! Hope you hear something positive today at least!

Wow you're having a nightmare aren't you?! Keeping my fingers crossed for you that everything resolves itself soon - it takes such an emotional toll.

Here’s a virtual cuddle for you Cuddlybearman. Sounds awful but I’m really keeping my fingers crossed too, that it all gets resolved in the right direction.

So the exchange isn't going through as one of the parties above us in the chain is insisting they aren't receiving the full deposit from us.. estate agent called me asking why we haven't sent our mortgage deposit (20%) when as far as I know no one ever sends more than 10% at exchange

20%?! What on earth. Surely the EA knows this isn't standard??

30 mins until my solicitor logs off for the day... she said she would contact me 'today' and it's not looking promising.

Debating how ethical it is to craft some form of elaborate trap to lure all the solicitors in our chain into, and refuse to let them out until they've communicated. 

The social distancing aspect of it would be a problem, but otherwise... 🤔

(No updates for us so far today! (And in fairness to our solicitor they have kept us in the loop on how many times they've tried and failed to get in touch with the vendor's solicitor, so I'm not blaming them for it!))
