  • I have now received the update that they were planning on exchanging on the 2nd but this has now been pushed back to the 8th
I assume this is so they can wait until the Budget is announced and if the SDLT holiday is extended, at which point they can further push back the 8th to some other date in the future

I am probably going to start viewing other houses this weekend because it doesn't seem like this one is going anywhere
  • Still waiting, no emails or calls, but reassured by the solicitor yesterday that it's going to be soon....
  • Well we should be completing tomorrow but as we are using the Forces Help to Buy scheme it’s so up in the air! Waiting for their funds to be sent to our solicitor, they claim to have sent on Tuesday so should be there today but they say it can take 3-5 working days 😩. I’m so over this, it’s so draining! Absolutely won’t move house again!! Lol

Think I said that twice already lol, and here I am again only 3 years after the last time. This will also be my 3rd and soon 4th house move in 4 years - bought a house, split from my ex and moved into rented, leaving my rented flat next week to live temporarily with my now partner and then into my purchase once we complete. Arrrrrgggghhh!
Property buying/selling timeline - currently into week 21
04/12/20: Both properties listed for sale
11/01/21: Offers accepted on both sales & on our joint purchase
25/01/21: Identity checks completed, solicitors instructed
27/01/21: Purchase survey & valuation complete, mortgage offer received
05/02/21: Reduction agreed on partner's sale (under-valuation) & on purchase. Mortgage offer amended
08/02/21: Buyers pack returned to solicitor - sellers packs already returned
    26/02/21: Partner's sale contract signed
    10/03/21: Purchase searches all back
    16/03/21: My sale contract signed
28/03/21: Purchase enquiries satisfied, Title Report & contracts issued, contracts signed & returned
11/05/21: Still waiting on final enquiry in the adjoining chain to be resolved. Consent to break the chain granted, instruction to move to exchange given.
17/05/21: All parties agreed to June 3rd for completion
27/05/21: Exchanged on my sale only
    28/05/21: ALL EXCHANGED!
    03/06/21: Completion
  • Thought we were pretty much ready to go, put forward a suggested completion date only to find out today that our sellers, who have been pushing for a Feb completion, are still waiting for their searches to come back.

Sounds like you need the Awaiting mortgage offer thread. This is the second tier of housebuying hell, where people languish in pain whilst Waiting to exchange. See you in about 2 months!  :D

    👋
I'm going to be brave and join this part now in the hope it might move things along 🤣

Our sale and purchase in a chain of 6 eek is ready, searches back, enquiries answered etc and we sit and wait for our report on title and contract to sign.
We were promised this 3 weeks ago 😬

There's one outstanding issue with bottom of chain and some deed of variation on rent which they're resolving but that shouldn't delay our contract! The post comes and goes each day and nothing.

Spoke to EA yesterday to say potential extension to SD shouldn't result in it being delayed and he understood and knows all of us are ready and want to exchange Asap.
So here we sit with no exciting news or progress 😜

  • Been emailing  and calling my solicitor all day and finally got a reply at 1pm
"xxxxx, I am very busy with completions this morning and i will get to your case when i'm ready to"
    !!!!!!!!!!!
Like to see what would happen if i was to say "thank you for your invoice, i'm very busy doing the garden today and i will get to your payment when i'm ready to"
  • Hi all, I'm due to complete tomorrow (eee!) and just received my completion statement from my solicitor. (It is WAY higher than expected but that's by the by.) Does it have to be paid before completion can happen? Or can I still complete and then pay it next week, say?

Obviously don't want to delay completion WHATSOEVER but I'll be getting my rental deposit back next week which would be very useful....
