Just thought I’d share my timeline as I posted here a little while ago . We got our offer accepted on the 7 January and exchanged very quickly - this happened in the first week of February ! We were advised the day before exchange . We are however completing on the 1 March on our sale and the 19 of March on our purchase as the sellers were not willing to complete earlier so we have to stay in an Airbnb in the meantime - fingers crossed it all goes smoothly!
Oh wow, that is mega fast!  Good luck!
  • We have exchanged! Hallelujah!

And we finally got the keys at 3pm. Already met the neighbours who were keen to discuss all their woes with the person who sold us the house. Not a great start so basically stomped off and left them.
See you all on the going mortgage free thread!
Never use Purplebricks’ recommended solicitor is all I can say.
Good luck everyone. I am off to lie down.
Congratulations!  PB solicitors are who we're waiting for ... we've been good to go for the last month.
  • Congratulations to those who exchanged and completed today!
I finally got an email reply from my solicitor (8pm, must be busy)  on our sale, they are still answering enquiries for us, as the buyers solicitors has asked “a considerable amount”.   Not heard anything on our purchase though, same solicitors firm dealing with both, but two different solicitors handling each side, I guess it should make it quicker?

In the end the seller (who was using them) wrote a letter of complaint to the md of the solicitors. They said all was fine and he forwarded it to us, my husband replied telling them all the outstanding issues we had left. On the same day I called the pb call centre and asked them to escalate it, told them I would not wait for a response as they had had since November and I was bow homeless. I have called PB every day for two and a half weeks so they had that logged. That day at 5pm they finally resolved it.
Then today we had a chain of 1. My solicitor sent the money at 11:30. It took them til 3 to notice and tell everyone.
Perhaps we were unlucky. So yeah. My advice is to absolutely hound them.
  • Have you guys seen that The Times are reporting stamp duty extended to June..fingers crossed!

    Yes just seen.. Here's hoping!
  • Good news on the SDLT extension although in my circumstance I have a horrible feeling that this could slow down my case as the pressure is off. Also have a nervous pang that my buyer could see this as more time to go off and find a new property - no reason why just seems the type.

Anyway - back on the wait again after the solicitor drama from yesterday. I’ve told my solicitor I want and exchange and completion date set by the end of today. Chance of that coming true?........ I reckon NONE!!
  • Here we go.. another day of nothing, if I get bored at work I might call up the EA for another fairy tale story about signing contracts/being ready/exchanging this week.. SDLT extension is definitely going to make them drag their feet even more
