  • Lol top that there is no chain! The chain starts with them and ends with us 😂. Yes I'm laughing even though this really isnt a laughable situation. I really do think they arent taking this seriously enough. But yes thank you I really hope it comes good soon. My husband is ready for the hills, sadly he works from home where I cant.  I'm stuck in limbo waiting to finish packing or unpacking.
Well sounds like the !!!!!! wasn't talking to the elbow regarding when the mortgage offer expires and didn't do anything to get an extension. If the valuation is being done today/has been done then their offer is likely to take about 2-5 business days so you may have just lost a week (hopefully). Could you ask for exchange/completion to take place simultaneously?

Mortgage should expire some time in march which is why I think they are suiting themselves in regards to exchange/completition without making us aware. Maybe they dont want to waste another months rent but if they signed and exchange for completition next week then that would include there march rent would it not? I really am baffled.

If their mortgage offer doesn't expire until the end of March why are they having another valuation done? Is it a homebuyer survey they are having done? Get your solicitor to put pressure on their solicitor for exchange asap so that it fits in with their mortgage offer.

If it is a survey just watch they don't try a last minute price reduction for repairs that aren't needed.

Sorry think there must have been mixed message somewhere, another nikki is on here, nikkihud.   No valuation being done on our sale it was done long ago, our property isnt that old 6 years to be exact.

It appears I have merged two peoples problems into one  :# Apologies.
  • Funny our solicitor had said yesterday about our buyers not realising how their actions are having an impact and that it needs to be known. Which would be true as they are renting. I'm annoyed as my husband booked off leave, we like yourselves are packed ready to be out on completition day. Also our blinds were due to arrive on saturday. The fact is they knew about this date early December and said yes it was fine. I dont think I would be as mad if they made us aware last week that this friday wasnt working for them.
Hoping to have a new date today for completition or even an answer as to what the real issue is. The excuse has been work related for 3 weeks but knowing people who work in their   industries it just doesnt add up. I hope they are not deciding to pull after 6 months, would be a really awful thing to do. On the flip side, houses on my street only sit for a week before agreed again. It's just this god awful process! Government really needs to a find a way to change it.
Its the opposite way around for us.  We're at the bottom of the chain, in rental, and the seller is the one we're waiting on.  If it doesn't hurry up, we need to be out of the rental by the end of the month (as agreed with the landlord), so in the next 2/3 weeks, we need to look for a new home.  At that stage, and if that happens, then we'll have to delay things because we have a new 6 month rental contract.  Been trying to move since September.

    We have exchanged! Hallelujah!

    Congratulations 🥳
  • Question of the day, to beat the stamp duty...could you exchange and complete but not actually move out 🤣 I'm thinking if for example you can't get removals etc until the week after and have to complete very last minute ...and you could have a gentleman's agreement that you would all live in each others houses for a week or so...

What if your sellers refuse to move out and you have to spend 6-12 months going through court to evict them!
  • Just called the solicitor for an update.. there is no update. Chain still maintaining silence despite the EA claiming they had sorted out their rental agreements on Friday and would be ready to exchange this week.
He suggested giving a deadline but we do want to buy the house so we wouldn't be able to follow through on it and walk away, a bit pointless then.
