WiseOwl00 said:We've been given a completion date of next Friday. All paperwork is completed and the bank has notified us to say that the funds will be released next week. We just need to transfer our deposit to our solicitor on Monday. Part of me wants to not get my hopes up - we've been in this process 7 and a half months now and have had constant bad luck/delays. But part of me wants to just not stress for one week and believe that this will actually work out, and that we will be in our first home this time next week. I think for my mental health it'd be better to go for the latter!
I've still got lots of packing left to do, and no days off work to do it in haha. But luckily there's no major rush to move it all on the first day. Need to sort out utilities, delivery of large furniture, joint bank account, new savings account as ISA closed etc., etc. But that type of stress doesn't bother me as I can manage it all myself and hopefully won't have months and months of delays!
We might be completion buddies! Due to complete next friday as well, contract exchanged next week. Eeeek!0 -
So although the weekend normally means no actions actually had some emails today where my EA has been in contact with the MD of the conveyancers and they have promised to finalise the enquiries on Monday and once that is done we could be looking at exchange any day after that. Not sure about completion dates yet - 12th is being banded around but TBH I would be happier with the 3/4th March. I know my buyer is keen so maybe its his buyer that is not so much. My purchase is an empty house so no problems there.
I understand the solicitor is busy (she did 4 exchanges on Friday) but would it be so hard to just send an email saying "I will look at this on Monday"? Its just the total silence that drive me (and everyone) up the wall.
Enquiries look simple (I got a copy from the buyer) - 2 silly questions about whether the dwelling is built over a sewer and if there has ever been flooding (both no) and the other one is getting a copy of the council building certificate for when we took a wall down. So i can't foresee any issues.
Getting nervous now - even started packing up some delicates today - hesitant to pack much more in case I jinx it.......0 -

Congrats to everyone who has exchanged and completed in the last couple of weeks.
Our solicitor is on holiday til 5th March and there are still outstanding enquiries up and down the chain. Hoping everyone involved gets their sh*t together in these next few weeks so we can all complete before the stamp duty holiday deadline.3 -
We will hopefully be exchanging this week. Completion date of 5th of March agreed. All parties keen to exchange as soon as able. I guess we just wait until they tell us we have exchanged?!0

First time commenter on this thread but been following intently. I'm on week 4 (going into 5) of waiting for my searches to come back. Everything is ready to go document wise and I'm buying a new build with no chain. I'm so anxious as I've spoken to someone in the same borough who has just waited 10 weeks for theirs to come back. Praying mine dont take so long.

I would love to find out the answer to whether this works because my local authority say 10 days and I emailed them they said they can expedite to do in 2 days but according to the solicitor she put the request in 3 months ago! Her excuse being that all solicitors use a third party company so what the council says is irrelevant... anybody know if this is true?0
