First time commenter on this thread but been following intently. I'm on week 4 (going into 5) of waiting for my searches to come back.  Everything is ready to go document wise and I'm buying a new build with no chain. I'm so anxious as I've spoken to someone in the same borough who has just waited 10 weeks for theirs to come back. Praying mine dont take so long.
you can contact the local authority yourself and ask for an estimate and explain this is the last thing you are waiting for.
Thanks for this. Do you need any sort of reference from the Solicitor to do this or can they chase this by address?

It depends on the la and how it has been requested. I had one sale with one la where it had been requested via a third party and only they could get any info, and for my purchase in a different la my solicitor has requested it direct and I just told them the address and they were super helpful and expedited it.

I woke up today and felt spaced out... I exchanged "unexpectedly" on the 11th - literally didn't even get a call to confirm prior - and finally completing this Friday 26th, touch wood that it all goes okay...! Funds release have been confirmed by lender and I have paid completion statement last week, surprisingly less than I thought/budgeted for with apportionment costs. Done all the home move forms for internet, water, council tax, electric, vet, registered with new GP and now just waiting...

This thread kept me motivated when it seemed it wasn't going to happen! I know a lot of people here have had their purchases going on for months -- not yet seen one as long as mine, though!

Sale was agreed on 4th March 2020, so this is a huge week for me on my lonesome!

Kind of feels unreal... Won't sink in until I have the keys in my hand!  :# thanks all in the thread and hang in there, even after 354 days from sale agreed to completion, it happens (but it won't be that long)! :D
    Woohoo!
We are also completing this Friday and so excited although still nervous something will happen between now and then!
  • I feel like the closer it gets to completion the slower time gets...

Going to sign the contract later at the office so there’s no chance of it getting lost in the post!

I definitely agree! It’s pure torture!

Okay great thanks for your help.  I've contacted the LA and was told there was nothing on the system for the address, which obviously filled me with dread.  Contacted the Conveyancer and she said the searches are done through a 3rd party, won't appear on their system and not to worry she will chase them up.  I'm still concerned as the LA told me she looked through all 3rd party requests and couldn't see the address.  So stressful.

So all parties have agreed 3rd March for completion and our solicitor is pushing for exchange on our sale asap and then exchange on our purchase just after. Removals booked and majority of the house is packed T-Minus 9 days to go. Hoping to get into the new house today to do a pre-exchange check as the sellers have moved already. Good luck to all those exchanging/completing this week. Those that are having difficulties I feel your pain but keep pushing on.
