Very exciting!!! Good to have some dates to work torunner81 said:We finally have some good news today - all of the solicitors have agreed we are ready to exchange and will be exchanging on Monday. I say this cautiously, as I just don't trust this process! We have the completion date of 10th March. I would have liked sooner, but the top of the chain could only get removals for 10th. Feeling like we have actually got some momentum going - woo hoo!!!!
time to start packing? I've still heard !!!!!! all, but trying to stay calm and try to not check my email every 2 mins! 0 -
How do people organise removal...do you wait until you have a a definite completion date then panic or do you book a date that looks realistic and use that as bargaining!? Or do you meet in the middle... Chain offers a date, you see if you can get a booking, then agree/suggest that different date depending on how you get on??
Feels like chicken and egg to me!!1 -
We have got 2 quotes already and we are a week or 2 from exchange still, loads of problems are arising with so many people currently moving house due to every one trying to beat SDLT deadline and there is simply not the amount of moving firms avaliable to cope with the high demand. If you have quotes ready (they mostly need to come round to do a quote) then you can ring and see if they have a date avaliable when the time comes.Caz_Mnaz said:How do people organise removal...do you wait until you have a a definite completion date then panic or do you book a date that looks realistic and use that as bargaining!? I have exchanged today. Chain was complete end of September. In the end it was all quite painless. One thing I noted is once you are getting close your solicitor no longer just lets your calls go to voicemail.

Well we heard absolutely nothing again today, just that ‘it’s not in yet’. Another weekend of not knowing!!
And the worst part is it will probably be the same outcome this time next week, when another completion date hasn’t been met!0 -
Just wanted to pop my head in and remind everyone to hang in there even when it looks tough. We finally made it in to our house today after our epic 197 day saga, which isn't as bad as some, but bad enough.
We missed out on getting our top two preferred removals and went with a company that had the words "Budget Removals" in their name. They were hilarious blokes, but the lorry wasn't big enough for all our stuff, so we had a super fun time trying to squeeze extra bits and bobs in to our in-laws rented garage, and in the end started popping stuff in our deceased neighbour's back garden.
I'm not sure how we will get lol that stuff to this house. I will consider that in a day or two when my muscles stop aching!
We are now sleeping on our mattress on the floor, because my husband, who honestly was a total saint today in the face of my controlling nature, decided the best place to store all the screws and whatnot from the bedframe was.... A bin bag. Which cannot be found so I can only assume it's in the (full to bursting) bin back at our old place.
We didn't leave the old place in as nice a state as I'd have hoped what with still packing the lorry an hour after completion, so I feel really odd about chatting to our buyers bout rummaging through our rubbish in their bin.
Sigh. It was never going to be a smooth end to a crazy journey, but we're in now!3 -
We completed on our sale today and we all made it to our air bnb. It has been very difficult and hard to celebrate when we have to try and get this house bought in the next week or so. Fingers crossed the sellers solicitor’s finally sent this last thing across today and it was correct so we can ‘get all our ducks in row’ as my solicitor says. I think this is her way of telling me we can’t just complete on Monday 😹👎
Looking at the bank balances was fun though?1 -
Just a small hurdle left, it's definitely doable! Fingers crossed for this getting wrapped up in days rather than weeks! 🤞tigerlily74 said:We completed on our sale today and we all made it to our air bnb. We’re the only ones who have to actually move on completion day in our chain. So we’ve got some quotes and provisionally booked our preferred one for one of the very few dates they had free mid March. We’ve told vendor and buyer that’s the day we’re working towards. If it’s delayed for any reason they’ll have to wait until we can secure another date with removals so I guess it’s in their interests to try meet that date. Who knows if we’ll be able to get another short notice in March.Caz_Mnaz said:How do people organise removal...do you wait until you have a a definite completion date then panic or do you book a date that looks realistic and use that as bargaining!? Feels like chicken and egg to me!!I have found, through painful experience, that the most important step a person can take is always the next one.
