Well, I've been here before (before Christmas) but now back waiting and waiting and waiting. Our chain of 6 originally has changed to 9 because the person who was meant to be breaking the chain decided to change their mind at the last minute. We have almost lost our FTB at the bottom twice because their mortgage offer expired. They are now on their last possible completion date (19th) or they will be forced to pull out. As far as I'm aware, we are only waiting on one search coming back from further up the chain which they told us would be back yesterday and then told us it would actually be tomorrow (I don't have a lot of trust in the word of this particular solicitor). We have packed up half the house already because we have 2 small kids and have to do it in bits so will be devastated if this all falls apart at the last hurdle. We sold and bought at the beginning of August so this has been a long slog!£2012 in 2012 Challenge #232 : £561.29/£20120

It sounds like we are in a very similar situation, we were all set to move before Christmas and paperwork has all been ready and waiting since then. Several solicitors further up the chain have been delaying/giving wrong information etc and we have passed 3 intended exchange/completion timelines now. Frustrating given that they were hassling us months ago to move quicker! Fingers crossed that you get exchange soon.Navigaor31 said:Another day ..
No confirmation from the top of the chain as to a completion on 15th. Even though they suggested this.
Again the chain fund themselves in limbo because they can't sort themselves out. (Literally nothing stopping them.moving other than themselves).
The people we are buying from have now threatebd to pull out of their transaction if this date is not confirmed. (Can't blame them).
Literally getting ridiculous...had three dates set. Agreed to by everyone. Then the second we are about too exchange they pull out.
Solicitors have had funds drawn down and sent back each time it's been that last minute.
It's all getting a bit ridiculous seeing as everyone has been ready paperwork/ solicitor wise since Christmas.£2012 in 2012 Challenge #232 : £561.29/£20120 -

Thank you! My ex did refuse to sell to start with, I gave him a year's grace, and then he stalled for another 3 months. Now he's complaining about having to pay stamp duty on his new purchase - well, if only someone had warned him! Idiot.crumblylancashire said:
Oh ouch, that's complicated! I last sold about 3 years ago, when I split from the ex - who initially refused to sell and I had to give all the equity over to persuade him to sell up (which was pretty stressful), and have been in rented since. Buying this time just under my name, although my boyfriend will be living with me. Good luck with it all!
I was going to buy on my own, but my boyfriend and I are constantly living at each other's places so decided it made sense to buy together - we're lucky to have found our ideal 5-bedroom house to fit the 4 kids we have between us!
Even more complicated is that I'm leaving my flat in 3 weeks when the tenancy is up, putting all my stuff into storage and moving in with him until our purchase completes. Jeeeez!0 -
My buyer says he has his mortgage offer - considering this is something ive been waiting to hear for 4 months i don't feel as elated as i thought......maybe just tired of the rollercoaster0

Yay! At least you know something is happening. Our transaction took so long we just stopped caring and chasing completely. It clearly wasn't making a difference. Then suddenly everything came together and we couldn't find removals it was so short notice!Cuddlybearman said:My buyer says he has his mortgage offer - considering this is something ive been waiting to hear for 4 months i don't feel as elated as i thought......maybe just tired of the rollercoaster
Fingers crossed this means the end is approaching for you...1 -
Ok I have to stop watching and post...hopefully it's an outlet for the anxiety that is building! Our timeline:
Nov 2020 - accepted offer on our house from cash buyer (no chain either side- we don't live there)
Dec 2020- they ordered survey
Early Jan 2021 - survey complete and searches ordered
Late Jan 2021- we put offer on house
That week ...mortgage applied for, offer the next day. Searches ordered. Survey done.
Now ....still waiting for purchases searches to come back ARGH. Ready to exchange on that wondering when to give our notice ...will we make the stamp duty and save 12 grand ...conveyancer has quit today ...
Like everyone else...sick of ringing and ringing hoping for an exchange date on the sale and getting literally no update. I just don't understand it!2 -
My searched in the North East took literally months. Horrendous when you cant do anything!!
My sol confirmed my sale and purchase all ready to go... We just have to wait for the bottom of the chain to catch up and no-ones talking dates yet as it's too early (they've just got surveys and searches underway etc 😬)0 -

We have our mortgage offer, our searches are being done and some enquiries have been raised on our purchase but we have no real idea where we are at with our sale, we’ve answered some enquiries and they had their survey at the beginning of January. Now we just wait! Good luck to everyone and congratulations to those of you who have exchanged already!

I'm about just just quit on chasing, and just try to stop obsessing and waiting and checking emails constantly. It's taking over my life and the not knowing is just bad for my head. I was hoping to be moving this month, the landlord in the place I'm in now, wants it back in about 4 weeks, so he can do it up for selling. Meh, what will be, just going to try to forget about it for the next few weeks... but good to know it all just happened for you, hoping that happens for us too! If not, then in a few weeks time we need to find somewhere to rent.oniongirl said:.... Our transaction took so long we just stopped caring and chasing completely.
