I’m hoping I don’t regret our decision to pack early. With 3 children in tow, 2 cats and two dogs then add in the mix we are both working full time .. we felt it was the best option
Im so glad I’m not on my own feeling inpatient.. I was doing so well lol I suppose we all crack in the end with this long house moving process !0 -
Absolutely, there is no right or wrong, everyone does what is best for them. Our purchase is less ‘secure’ I guess, having to wait for tenants to leave, so we’re preparing mentally for the worst.Kbenn0 said:I’m hoping I don’t regret our decision to pack early. I have nothing to do other than pack so I thought I might as well just do some of it. Everyone is ready, we all agreed on dates last week. Just waiting for solicitors to do it now. Not sure if they just ring us up just before or if there should be some warning.

We decided to start packing too - with 2 little ones and 2 dogs we felt we best make a start. So hopefully we dont regret it either!Kbenn0 said:I’m hoping I don’t regret our decision to pack early. My partner is working alot of shifts at the local hospital in the coming weeks, with her normal work and the vaccinations, so it would leave very little time for us to pack! (obv no childcare at the moment too doesnt help!!)
Good luck with getting exchanged/completed!0 -
Oh don't get me wrong it will be UTTER CHAOS when we do get the word but as we're a long chain that's already broken down once right before exchange (meaning we almost had to go back on the market with packing boxes everywhere 😒) I'm holding off doing anymore until actual exchange...... Speed packing here we come. I'll probably end up packing the pets.... 😂1

Congratulations and thanks for posting this, it gives me a little hope. I am a nervous wreck and almost feel like giving up, but I will carry on chasingRoyalPlum said:And we've exchanged !!!!!!!
I am a bit taken aback to be honest and it is still sinking in.
Complete night and day compared to last week where I had convinced myself that seller had gone quiet on us as they were going to pull out. This has been the most stressful experience of my life and I have not helped myself one bit by building up all these fake scenarios in my head.
For everyone still waiting to exchange, all I can say is please look after yourself and your wellbeing. Adding Covid to the mix has made an already stressful process almost impossible to manage. Keep pushing, even if you have to chase everyday! And try (as hard as it is) to keep positive by focusing on the little wins (as small and insignificant as they seem).

Have been told that no one is chasing the final enquiry until Thursday. 2 more days of nothing 🥺 Hoping all is ready by the end of the week otherwise I will lose all hope!!0

So we did it, now in our new property! Exchanged ahead of the Completion date due to this issue with Covid. Thankfully the seller is ok and battling it out. We had a very frantic week of packing and successfully moved last Thursday 4th. Even though we had hardly any chain it took until 2pm to go through so that was frustrating for all.
Unfortunately the boiler failed on Sunday and currently trying to get it working again - typical!

I exchanged over a week ago, with next Monday as the completion date - have chased the solicitors for the completion statement again today. After how useless they've been, I'm not sure I'll actually feel any relief until the keys are actually in my hand! Although I have purchased furniture and white goods to be delivered a couple of days after completion (I'm not moving in until the following week).
In very positive news, my mum decided she'd pay for me to have the movers pack up the house, so I don't have to do any packing (apart from personal items). While this is awesome, it does mean I don't feel like I'm doing everything I should be!1 -
Update from me - there was Japanese knotweed on the development (!!) but it was treated and they have a 10 year guarantee of this. But the lender needs to approve that certificate before we can go ahead and exchange. My solicitor says they've completed on other properties in this development so it's just a 'formality' but I'm a bit annoyed as I was told everything was ready to exchange via email, so I transferred my deposit, handed in my notice on my rental, expecting for exchange to happen last week. He said they expect to get the lender approval within 24 hours so everything will happen then - and when I said about me needing to move on the completion date (26th Feb) he said 'oh that's plenty of time' so I really hope he's right! Feel like I can't plan or pack or sort out utilities until I actually exchange. Gonna be well fun being homeless if this all goes belly up!
