Currently waiting on my solicitor to reply regarding searches, these were ordered 4 weeks ago and I’ve not heard from my solicitor in 2 weeks. Very frustrating!
I can only imagine. Which local authority area are you in? 1 week in, and our LA (Manchester City Council) state 2 day turnaround on their website!
I’m in Flintshire, it’s supposed to be a 2 week turnaround.
I’m mostly annoyed at lack of correspondence from solicitor! When he eventually gets back to me I get a reason about being busy over weekend or something.
I’m busy with work too.. chasing him weekly isn’t ideal 🙈
This is what I don’t get! I’m a nurse in a&e... I have to assess, investigate, treat, document, communicate with patients and relatives, arrange follow up and handover of a patient and do referrals as well as handle a million other enquiries. This can be 12 or even 24 different patients in a shift and equals more physical work than any of the solicitors have had to do for my transaction that has been with them for 6 months upto now.

If we worked at their pace we’d be lucky to get one patient through the department a day never mind 200+ yet they are the ones that earn silly money! I definitely chose the wrong career!
    Exactly that!
I’m an ECC veterinary surgeon. I do 15 hour shifts with multiple patients and paperwork etc.
Also in the process of changing jobs in next few months so he knows I have a bit of a deadline to not screw with my mortgage.
I get chance to answer his emails.. apparently he doesn’t think it’s worth answering mine 🙄

So excited to be joining! I have no idea on an exchange date as of yet, we really hope to be completed by the start of September, there’s no chain on either side so hopefully not unrealistic.

We had our mortgage offer accepted on Monday, subject to valuation. I thought I'd check the progress of the valuation today and turns out the surveying company is stating they're waiting for a call-back from our agents. However, the estate agents haven't received any calls/voicemails from them. Good job we checked sooner rather than later otherwise god knows how long we'd have been at stalemate for. Nothing is ever simple when it comes to buying a house!

Always find comparables. You can ask, but you won’t always get what you want.

2/7 - viewed house, offered asking price.
    3/7 - offer accepted.
6/7 - mortgage application submitted via broker.
10/7 - DIP received. Solicitors instructed.
    27/7 - lender's valuation instructed
31/7 - Local lockdown. Mortgage valuation 15K below offer. Stress
4/8 - Building survey reveals lots of major problems with the house. Surveyor advises extreme caution if we decide to proceed. Uses phrases like "disaster" and "cowboy job". We sit up till 2am stress eating cheese on toast and debating if we want to live on a building site.
5/8 - Environmental Searches back - house is in a coal mining risk area. Survey report received. All the red flags.
6/8 - pull out of house sale. Start booking more viewings.

    Sigh.

Received a load of documents from the solicitor yesterday.  After a bit of back and forth to understand what they all meant - instructed solicitor to send a letter to the sellers solicitor, which should complete the Missives (Scotland).  I asked our solicitor to email me to confirm when this is definitely the case.  Not heard anything yet today...starting to worry again!

I'm in Scotland as well and I'm finding solicitor communication awful. I am worried about the sale falling through  now ☹
