Hope everyone waiting gets some news soon. We are feeling a bit in limbo as we’ve had little
contract from solicitors in the last 2 weeks. Not really sure what is left to do to as most things appear to be in hand so nothing to do but wait.

Trying to be patient but we moved in with my mum‘s 2 bed flat with no garden (with our 1 year old) in Feb thinking we’d spend our days out and about and save loads and then lockdown hit so we are now desperate for a garden and hope it’s in tome for at least a little
    bit of summer sun :)

Has anyone got any advice on chasing solicitors without being rude/demanding??? I think my current approach is not giving off any sense of hoped for urgency haha!

I’m struggling with no/little contact with solicitor as well. It’s difficult because I don’t want to annoy them by pestering but on the other hand I’m wondering if those who are pestering get priority. I tend to send an email when I’ve not heard from them for a couple of weeks asking if there is anything I need to be doing or are they waiting for anything from me.

My situation is slightly different because we are buying a new build which isn’t ready until the end of the year so while I want to ensure everything is moving on our sale I’m in no hurry as we’re moving in with family between until our house is finished.

    It’s the not knowing what’s happening that’s a killer isn’t it!

Thanks for the idea- I’ve just sent them an email query about my H2B isa in the hope it will jog their memory of my purchase and they’ll give me an update haha!

Fingers crossed for contact for both us :)

I am trying to hold on to the idea that it hasn't really been too long, but honestly the fact that we have finished our bit and don't have a date is driving me up the wall!!! Desperate to get in before the kids go back to school, this thread does at least give me hope that when people are given a date it appears to be quite sudden and often sounds like the date can be quite short notice, so there's still reasonable chance of things happening in August.

Top of the chain dragging their heels pushing for a whole month to empty the vacant property... Seems the family members can’t work together on a date. So we’ve had confirmation today that our new confirmed and agreed date is 14th! - 2 weeks longer than needed really.
Always find comparables. You can ask, but you won’t always get what you want.

@fackers_2 I feel your pain. We were supposed to have completed on the 30th April, then Covid happened.

Then we were supposed to have completed on 17th July, delayed as Western Power ran out of cable and were told it would either be the 31st July or 7th August. Would have been 31st July however they hit a problem with Welsh Water.

We are now finally completing Friday and my nerves are through the roof!

Fingers crossed yours will not be changed.

Had our searches come back today but our solicitor is still waiting for the contract pack from the vendor. All looks good except there's no mention of an extension that's on the house so hoping there's a reason for that
  • Anyone know how long Salford local authority searches take to come back?

I finally, finally have a date for simultaneous exchange & completion: August 17th! All fingers and toes are crossed in anticipation.
  • Found out my searches are all back. Solicitor says they've been chasing responses to enquiries from seller's solicitor. Trying to figure out what's left to do as want to complete by the end of the month if possible. I know I need to close my htb isa so going to visit the bank tomorrow and need to look at getting buildings insurance in place. Anything else I'm missing?
