So....the vendor got his stuff out. His removal company came on time, as he explained he was exchanging and completing same day they turned up.
The EA is ready with the keys. Both solicitors ready for the morning. So hopefully by tomorrow afternoon. We will have the keys to our new house and begin the process of becoming first time landlords on our old place.
I'm going to get rather tipsy tomorrow evening I think. It's been a stressful week...

Woohoo @fullofcold well done! Glad to hear something normal and good is progressing at this crazy awful time!

I’ve not heard anything from anyone re my house. Don't think i will either. I did call the Housing Association yesterday and just said my solicitor is waiting for the contracts but they probably just fobbed me off and wont even pass on the message.

My six year old asked me how much as a nice shiny new house... i said about £300k so he said he wants one of them instead. Tough titty! He’s having his whole childhood in this council house then when he’s got a good job he can remember his humble beginnings 😂😂

So who else is due to exchange and complete tomorrow? Feeling confident?

I would REALLY rather exchange today and complete tomorrow to give us some more certainty - with all my stuff in a van and moving in to a new build I feel I am not reliant on others for the move, but I am reliant on them to make the all important paperwork and finance stuff happen. I am a pessimistic 50/50 at the moment.

We were due to complete on Monday - we've raced through but faced some delays with some paperwork, still waiting for one piece to come back but then we are done and ready to go.
I'm not sure whether we should carry on and get it done next week as I have a few concerns moving into a new build with no sales people, site manager or builders on site - I'm worried about things like internet not working (yet to be setup anyway but told it can be done remotely), heating/plumbing/electrical issues, etc.
  • @Tommo99 Just spoken to out Estate agent and solicitor. Still exchanging and completing tomorrow! The estate agent has an employee living on the street we are moving to so they are meeting us there to give us the keys... so sounds like we're all good...!!
  • Was hoping to be in a position to exchange this week with completion next week.

Unfortunately the COVID situation means that the chain are now on hold until the government lift restrictions. Taylor Wimpey are the developer at the top of chain, and are holding any completions that are not yet exchanged.

Will be a nervous few weeks/months to hope that the chain stays together 🤞

We are in! All went through about 1PM. Had the keys at 4.

What a relief. One of the most stressful weeks of my life.
