I think I'm still in shock. I mean, I knew this was likely coming, but I still really believed it was going to be ok. And now... I don't even know what happens now. We've exchanged. What happens if none of the parties are able to complete?0

I' m sure you will be able to go and get your cat.
This isn't a lock down in the Italy/Spain sense, where you can't even go more than 50 yards from your house. Picking up your cat, is a necessity. Same as if, you had to take it to the vets (who are key workers and thus staying open).
I would class having to go out to move house a necessity, if you have already exchanged.
Only things like shops, bars etc have closed. Everyone can still work. And if they can't work from home, they can still go in.
Hopefully the world will keep on turning, whilst everyone is being sensible.
Saying that, I'm going to have a sleepless night. We are due to exchange and complete on Thursday. Mortgages have been drawn down. The vendor has moved out. I'm hoping our solicitor is able to either A, transfer the monies without being in the office or B, will deem this a necessity and go into the office.
The picking up of the keys is the trivial part.2 -
@TF03 we're the same, mortgage been drawn down to complete/exchange Friday. It's not a biggy for us as we won't be moving in straight away anyway, but it's just the uncertainty! However, solicitor thinks all is fine so we carry on...
@kazwookie what has happened to you today? From what I've heard things should still be moving?!0 -
@fullofcold how did you get on today? I went on a bike ride (permitted exercise) and seen removal men moving people into houses. Tonnes of people out tending to their gardens and doing diy workmen out etc. If it stays as it was today you should be able to moveMortgage started August 2020 £69,700
