Right my solictor said via email to just wait for this virus situation to calm down and wait and see if we can exchange.

Come home from work to find he has posted the contract to sign but says not to date it. It will be filled in later when we know when we can complete. I think he is preparing so when this situation is calmer we can press on ahead. Get everything ready to go.

  • @fullofcold how's it going? @Sncjw we didn't date our contracts either..
We finally have house insurance in place (wow that was fun!) and now are exchanging and completing on the 27th... fingers crossed.

I still have flat... so will be a two property owner for a while :open_mouth:

Standard practice for solicitor to hold signed undated contract in preparation.

I'm supposed to be exchanging today and completing on Wednesday.  I have removals and everything booked, just trying to hold my nerve now because if we don't move Wednesday the buyers of ours have Virgin putting cable in Thursday and I have cable going into my new place Thursday in case we have to start working from home, which is possible.

I also have my probation review at work today, so all in all I am close to going mad from all the stress.  I hope next week this will be a distant memory but right now I just want to sit and cry into my cuppa ...

FTB solicitor has advised to exchange and complete on Wednesday given that we are facing lock down in the UK.  Sensible, but I want to cry like a baby right now - trying to find out if we can bring it forward a day

I should probably accept that we won't be moving anytime soon

  • I think you'll be ok. It is super stressful I know!! We're not exchanging/completing until Friday but have been assured all should be fine....

Everyone told me that once we got to exchange things would be smooth sailing. :D

I really just want clarity at this point. IF we all get locked down, what does that mean? Legally, how do you deal with people who've already exchanged?  Do you then prevent anyone else from exchanging?

I don't think anyone has the answers to these questions yet, simply because it's never been an issue before - but they're definitely keeping me up at night this week.

I'm still hopeful that I'll be completing and moving on Thursday, as planned - and at that point I will happily lock myself away in my castle (hahaha) for as long as it takes. Just three more sleeps...

Exchange and Complete due for Thursday 26th March.
Very nerve-racking at the moment. Been assured that everything is going to be fine. We have just received the remortgage on our flat which we are planning on renting out. So if we don't complete Thursday, technically we are homeless as you can't live in your own BTL.

But I'm still quietly confident. Even in Spain/Italy where there are strict lockdowns. People can still go to work if needed. The banks are still running.

@fullofcold that is really unnerving that theyve moved the goalposts. Fingers crossed it all goes ahead Wednesday.

I need mine to go through asap so I can work a little less, I feel super exposed in work like im putting my family at risk.
