Kazwookie, I did warn the agent it was pretty boxy haha. I was going to stay home because he’s coming right at tea time, but I think me, 4 kids and a big dog might be a bit much so a sneaky burger dinner it is!0

Well done @SameOldRoundabout glad youve got there!
I had a rant yesterday at my broker because the solicitor wasn't progressing and she seems to have given them a tiny kick up the backside! They hadn't even started the searches cus they were verifying the mortgage offer. The solicitor sent me something to fill in today so just going to print that off in a minute and get it returned asap!

We accepted on offer on our flat 06.02. (cash buyers)
Our offer on the house was accepted 10.02.
We have our mortgage formal offer 25.02.
But since then our house sellers still haven't had their offer accepted on the house they want. That's almost four weeks from them accepting our offer. Are they taking too long?
PS. You aren't cash buyers as require a mortgage.0 -
Just thought I'd pop in to say after having an offer accepted last November, we've finally exchanged!
There's been delay after delay all due to our vendors troublesome onward purchase, which they've finally had enough of and have pulled out of meaning we complete in two weeks.
Excited isn't the word! Relieved too, there were too many occasions the whole thing looked far too wobbly and I thought we were going to lose £1k plus in fees and surveys, but it's come right in the end.0 -
Uncertainty for me at the moment.
Searches all come back fine, mortgage in place, moving along well in that respect. However after the survey said 'roof is of asbestos and has had recent repairs' I asked the sellers for more info. They don't think they are asbestos but as they are original tiles from 1938 they have no documentation to say what they are. They also say no recent repair work has been carried out, last one was 1983, but a section of tiles look very new which is why the surveyor said recent work. I now need to sort a specialist to test them. I've looked into buildings insurance and it's 4x higher for just buildings than my previous home was for buildings and contents, purely due to potential asbestos tiles. My mortgage lender has said they would still lend as my loan to mortgage is low however they may devalue the house due to this (they already valued it £10,000 less than my offer before they knew of these potential tiles.
I soooo hoped this would go smoothly but I know that was naive with house buying0 -
We finally exchanged yesterday, weeks after it seemed like we were ready (but weren't, as it turned out). Someone in the chain was really fussy about completion dates which means it's not the date I would have chosen, but come the 26th of March, I will finally, finally be a homeowner. Hurray!0

Hi guys so we had our mortgage offer on Tuesday. Solicitor was still waiting for paperwork from sellers solicitor. They have been really slow.Today got an update from estate agents to say solictor has the paper work from sellers and also copy of the mortgage offer. He is going to check the paperwork.I am hoping they can wait until end of the month to exchange as I will have the full deposit by then. I was hoping to use help to buy isa bonus but was told you get that after completing.I have to give 30 days notifce on my flat and my rent is due on the 23rd if each month: I want to not pay both rent and mortgage if possible . I want to be moving stuff into house before the 23rd so have time to clean up and get flat sorted to hand back:
want to pay the lowest amount of interest on the mortgage on first paymentsMortgage free wannabe
Actual mortgage stating amount £75,150
Overpayment paused to pay off cc
Starting balance £66,565.45
Current balance £58,108

Well, we did not exchange yesterday. After being told for the second time that our vendor was ready to go I now find that they have 4 enquiries outstanding on their purchase and although they are still pushing for completion on 25/3 I don't think it'll happenI am a Protection Adviser.
