Has anyone experienced (like me) many more problems with their solicitor than they did with the acual mortgage lender?
I went for my mortgage via an advisor with Natwest, this only took a couple of weeks to get to valuation and then a couple of weeks after that the mortgage offer came through, the difficult part is over you may think.
Natwest have a list of solicitors in my area (Nort East) they'll deal with and nobody else, so my advisor recommended a certain firm (TMJ Solicitors) who are approved by the bank.
Quite quickly they requested a copy of my mortgage offer and details of my deposit, fair enough I sent those back to them.
Then they requested more details about my deposit as it was in an ISA, not my normal current account so I sent a breakdown of all of my ISA record to them.
Then they emailed me to request copies of the current account details where the funds have been transferred from, I sent it to them.
Then they asked for confirmation of my personal details again I sent that to them too.
Then they requested a £300 downpayment for searches, I sent this to them via bank transfer to the account details they provided (which i triple checked were correct) including a special four figure reference they provided so it couldn't be lost on 13th September.
Had and email off them on Friday 21st September saying they hadn't received the money yet, I checked my bank account details and it's gone, so emailed them back confirming the sort code, account number and special ref plus the date it was sent, no reply.
They had better get back in touch with me this week to confirm it as the vendor is getting impatient, and who can blame him?0 -
Has anyone exchanged and completed within a few days or even on the same day? We are due to complete this Friday but we haven't exchanged yet...0

10 weeks since we had our offer accepted on a house (FTB currently renting)
Process was going smoothly then vendors lost their house as someone put in higher offer, apparently it was never taken off the market after their offer was accepted so we're back to square one. We had our mortgage offer through 3 weeks ago and solicitors have done all land registry checks already so it's just a waiting game now.
Very worried the vendors are going to pull out or take months and months to find another property!0 -
No update on my purchase - mortgage application is being submitted. I need to find a cheque book so I can instruct our solicitors!
The probate sale I am dealing with has been PAINFUL. Purchasers got their mortgage offer a couple of weeks ago and we have heard zilch since then.0 -

Both can happen if all parties are willing and able, not something I've ever done or would contemplate doing though, but that's just me. Same as I'll never ever complete on a Friday.0 -
Also, am I fair to have asked the EA to chase the satisfactory replies up? There are no chains. Feeling a little worn out now from being in the same position!
I know its painful all the waiting.
Yes definitely chase with the EA, thats what I did and the enquiries came back the next day.
Hope they come back this week, then exchange!!0 -
