The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

similar story to mine that is. waiting for my buyers ( the FTB at the bottom of the chain) to sort their mortgage out, they have been faffing abuot with that since the beginning of August. I am expecting there to be some movement on that sometime this week, BUT they havent sent us a single enquiry or anything yet either, so I think I still have a bit of a mountain to climb. ( and i think my solicitor is about to go on holiday too:( I genuinely feel your pain, the waiting when you know things are happening is one thing, the waiting when you suspect nothing is happening is just blinking painful.
I would be putting my house back on the market if I were in your position. Who takes 7 weeks to sort out a mortgage? There's either an issue with their finances or they're just not motivated to buy. Must be so frustrating for you! :eek:0 -

Annoyingly our deposits are in ISA's too so have to get the solicitor to send a declaration over to our building society to withdraw, however she can't do this until an exchange date is agreed!
I'll let you know when we hear anything
Hi why does your solicitor need to write to isa provider?
If its your money why can't you withdraw it?0 -
We completed on the 14th Sept. I thought I'd share my timeline too. Well done everyone else who was banging their heads against the walls at the same time as us. Feels very worth it now we're in our new home - albeit sleeping on an airbed as we have no furniture yet!
FTB timeline:
May 14th viewed house and offer placed
May 15th offer accepted
May 25th ID to solicitors, upfront deposit payment and file opened.
June 1st cancelled first mortgage application through broker, as broker kept messing us around.
Went on holiday
June 12th Applied for NatWest mortgage.
June 22nd Survey Done - Mortgage offer in and survey results back! Woo!
June 27th Solicitor Searches submitted
July 23rd All searches back, but vendors still awaiting theirs.
August 1st Went into solicitors and signed contracts in person. (vendors on holiday)
August 20th First suggested completion date.
August 31st Second suggested completion date - this time all agreed! Yey!
August 24th Failed exchange
September 3rd Failed exchange
September 4th Failed exchange
September 5th Failed exchange (we are now told someone in the chain is still waiting for a survey)
September 7th Exchanged! Woo!
September 14th Completed. Got keys 4.30pm. Popped up to house, left in lovely condition, cleaned and tidy. Went out for dinner and cocktails! Woo!
September 15th Moved in with family help.
September 16th Cleaned old flat and vacated - can't get hold of landlord to return keys though!
Best of luck all with your moves. On the whole we only had a couple of blips, looking back it wen't ok. At the time I felt on tenterhooks!0 -
Well, we have completed - yay - BUT . . . no keys - can't get into the house. Vendors left us an external mailbox key. And after all the hassle with needing to be in a different county by early morning were still at the house mid afternoon. The garden has not had all the rubbish removed despite us making sure they agreed to do so. Well !!!!ed off today. The keys SHOULD be with the estate agents tomorrow {they are express delivering them}. A complaint has been put into the solicitors about them. No idea what good it will do though.
What a nightmare! All the hassle they've put you through already and now this....completely bonkers.
Fingers crossed you get the keys today and they've cleared out all their junk0 -

Feeling impatient
- Last week of July - Reserved and saw the broker for App
- Second week of August – Mortgage Approved
- By end of august before the bank holiday we signed everything and left it to our solicitors.
- Been chasing on a weekly basis, initial delays were searches now it’s developer solicitors delay.
Feel like it's taking longer than it should, it's a new build, FTB, property is already finished.0 -
Still waiting on the keys - unfortunately the junk won't have gone as they are already in their new abode a few hundred miles away
That's awful, surely they must be in breach of something within the contract, you've paid them for the house and don't have access, because of them.
Vendors who leave junk behind for the new owners to deal with are one of my biggest peeves. It's their c**p, they knew they would be moving so they should have made arrangements for it's disposal
I hope it gets resolved soon so you can at least get inside0 -

they knew it was there as we had a 'nice' card waiting for us along with the lack of keys which said 'excuse the garden mess we've been busy with family things' - well they will get the bill for the clean up“Isn't this enough? Just this world? Just this beautiful, complex
