today's update is that everyone is ready to exchchange but my sellers's solicitor has now gone AWOL and isn't returning anyones's calls/emails, so I have little doubt that it will happen today.
Many thanks to all who contribute on MSE :)

So found out that we still haven't had the draft contract from the vendors, which they said we'd have at the latest over a week ago.

Searches can't proceed without it and so basically nothing has really happened in the 5 weeks since the offer was accepted :(

God this house buying stuff is demotivating! :p

This is second time today I have seen same thing (vendor trying to delay the sale), it must be really frustrating for you. Seems like your vendor is trying to delay the sale as much as possible.

    Hello,

FTB here and very impatient with it all, I just want to move in now :p
The property I'm buying is currently empty and there is no chain.

    My timeline -
    Flat viewed - 8/5/18
Offer made and accepted - 9/5/18
    Solicitors instructed - 9/5/18
Welcome pack received from solicitor - 10/5/18
Signed welcome pack/ID sent to solicitor and searches ordered- 11/5/18
    Mortgage application made - 14/5/18
    Mortgage valuation - 22/5/18
    Mortgage offer received - 23/5/18

We're now just waiting for the vendor's solicitor to send over the draft contracts, no idea what the hold up is as my solicitor first mentioned she was chasing it up back on 11/5/18. I've also spoken to the estate agent and he's also trying to chase it up.

My solicitor is away until next week so nothing more will happen until then.

Just chase up the EA every day (yes everyday!). Also its different for each sale but sometimes vendors try to mess people around for their selfish objectives. If you dont see this going ahead then you have to make a decision to give ultimatum! But this depends on your personal circumstances. My view is that if the vendor is going to mess you around then it's not going to be your property anyway! (but thats just my personal view)

Sounds like my purchase... 6 weeks in and they have only just had an offer accepted on an onward purchase!

The place I'm buying is currently empty so I'm not even waiting for that!

Although it is a flat and I'm told the leasehold packs take a while to get from the managing agent etc, so hopefully it's all coming together!

Going to start to really annoy my solicitor and EA though to try and get things moving.

I'm not quite anywhere close to the ultimatum stage yet, but I will start chasing the EA and solicitor more now. My solicitor was away last week so I couldn't really do much because she might have already had the contract.

So having been told by my solicitor for 2 weeks that they have been waiting on answers to enquiries for 2 weeks I contacted the estate agent today and she said that the vendors solicitors responded to the enquiries at the beginning of last week!! Bet it's just sitting unopened on a desk in the solicitors office, they certainly never seem to read my emails until I ring them to chase. Grrrr, so annoying! Why can't they just get on with their job!

I hope this happens for me. I'm five weeks in and the sellers haven't found anywhere yet. Fingers crossed for week six!
