These solicitors live in there own world, no interest in the families and lives that depend on them. So difficult to get hold off, no return phone calls or emails on urgent matters - just a very poor customer service IMHO. If i treated my clients the same way at work, i would be out of a job.
I know right!? It's not even that hard to improve service. A simple email once every week or two to provide an update on where things are would be a massive improvement. It's so difficult to find reviews for solicitors too. I picked a local one base on google reviews that seemed quite good. How wrong I was! :mad:Cheery_Daff wrote: »Quite bored of my solicitor now too, despite singing his praises. He's been really quick to get back to me every time - but since Christmas literally all he's said is 'I'll let you know when I hear anything'
Emailed the estate agent again tonight - not heard from them for a fortnight either - last email I had said buyers' solicitor had sent queries to the new person at the bottom of the chain 'so we shouldn't be too far off now!' And then nothing for two weeks!
It's now 24 weeks since we had our offer accepted, 10 weeks since the FTB at the bottom of the chain pulled out, and 8 weeks since our buyers found a new buyer for their place.
Gosh I'm bored of this. Two more weeks and it'll be half a year  already more than that since we accepted an offer on ours!
Wow, I thought I was having it bad after 16 weeks! There really has to be a better way for a chain to communicate and update others on progress. The current system is ridiculous.0 -
We are at the end of week 16, and it looks like we’ll be heading into week 20 at the earliest. So slow, but it doesn’t seem like we are the only ones. The weird thing is that the hold up hasn’t been our sale - we had buyers drop out and then 5 weeks before finding a new buyer. I was so panicked that our vendors would remarket, but their purchase is the one delaying us.
I think its really misleading when people say its ‘just searches’ outstanding - searches that take weeks because some conveyancers don’t go direct to the council, then all the things that might come up on searches requiring extra reports - there’s no ‘just’ involved!0 -
Fingers crossed for everyone hoping for some movement today.
Myself, I have been awake all night thinking of any possible issue that could occur today which would mean I don't get my keys, silly I know. So I will spend my day running the battery down on my phone by checking it every 2.3 seconds for the phone call.
On the subject of solicitors, mine has been a nightmare, never once returned a phone call and of the emails sent has responded to less than 10%. Again, I didn't go cheap, chose someone close to my work so I could be on hand to provide documents etc. quickly, online reviews seemed positive. I began to think the reviews might be fake, my solicitor is the head of conveyancing at the firm and I am shocked by the lack of service. Like someone else said, its amazing because no other industry could treat its clients like that!0 -

Finally got an update from my sol - 30th is agreed for completion but
Still no word from the mortgage company confirming that they will release the funds
Vendors sol working towards completion on the 30th and waiting on confirmation of release of funds
So once we get confirmed release of funds for both we can exchange. Why does this take so long, surely they must know if they're going to give me the money they agreed to when I applied.
I suspect this may be a very a long day and may still not happen today0 -
Got a call from my sol!
Mortgage company wants more money - but apparently the fact that they've done their completion statement is a good thing.
So still I wait.0 -

Joining in here. First time buyer. Buying a property from someone who is buying a chain free one.
Offer accepted 11/12/2017
Mortgage application 15/12/2017
Valuation 21/12/2017
Solicitors instructed 04/12/2018
We already sent all the signed contract, transfers, forma, proofs etc.
After so many calls this week they told me the seller just instructed his solicitor. Is that possible? And who is preparing the contracts after all? Solicitors or estate agents?0 -
Sol said the funds have been sent to the vendors sol so just waiting for them to confirm....so close I can barely sit still!
CTC, I will keep everything crossed for you, your stress levels must be pretty high right now!
Gawatate, great news! totally with you on that one, no chance of me focusing on much today!0
