Same :( Mine shuts at 5 (well the phone lines do) so I am starting to think it wont be today either. I think we will still meet our proposed completion date if we exchange tomorrow but I didnt want another day of waiting and staring at emails.

Yep - that's how I feel. I just fired off a quick email to my sol to confirm if it's no response from my lender today.

I hate the thought of another day of waiting - but at least if no WHEN it happens tomorrow I'll be able to drink my bubbly in the evening. I don't finish until 10 today and back in at 9 tomorrow so no time to enjoy it. Though I do have a mini bottle in the fridge just in case :rotfl:

Well it's now 5.02pm so I guess it's not happening today - didn't even get a reply from the sol. Maybe she finished early as she was in at 8? :(

Eeeeeeep - what are the boreholes being done for ?

The property currently has a private water supply that originates on a fairly distant farm. We're looking to install our own borehole  That way we're not dependent on anyone else!

Unexpectedly exchanged today, solicitors secretary told me yesterday he was planning to exchange and complete simultaneously on friday (not at all what i wanted) . So I was surprised to get a phone call saying exchange was happening today. Completion is planned for tomorrow, keeping everything crossed!

Congrats to everyone that has had good news this week

CTC I am gripped reading your updates. Have everything crossed hoping you exchange tomorrow.

We have finally completed today and it feels so good to know it's our home. Now just 3 weeks of DIY before we actually move in.

Hope all exchanges and completions go to plan tomorrow.
  • In crappy news, it looks like we might be delayed until the week of the 19th Feb. Ironically, it's the date I was originally counting on before solicitors and EA's started saying we were ready to exchange!

In better news, car passed its MOT today, so no unexpected bill, and the garage I took it to is opposite the new house so I got to walk past it and marvel at its beauty twice in one day :) I told the garage man we were in the process of buying it and he suggested I just use the new address to get registered on their database - so tempting but I restrained myself, don't want to jinx anything, haha!

Off to a conference tomorrow where I'm facilitating the whole afternoon so that will keep me busy. Just need one of those every day for the next three weeks I reckon!

Looking forward to your next update CTC! Good luck!

These solicitors live in there own world, no interest in the families and lives that depend on them. So difficult to get hold off, no return phone calls or emails on urgent matters - just a very poor customer service IMHO. If i treated my clients the same way at work, i would be out of a job.

Quite bored of my solicitor now too, despite singing his praises. He's been really quick to get back to me every time - but since Christmas literally all he's said is 'I'll let you know when I hear anything'

Emailed the estate agent again tonight - not heard from them for a fortnight either - last email I had said buyers' solicitor had sent queries to the new person at the bottom of the chain 'so we shouldn't be too far off now!' And then nothing for two weeks!

It's now 24 weeks since we had our offer accepted, 10 weeks since the FTB at the bottom of the chain pulled out, and 8 weeks since our buyers found a new buyer for their place.

Gosh I'm bored of this. Two more weeks and it'll be half a year  already more than that since we accepted an offer on ours!

We didn't exchange :( my buyers solicitors finished at 3 so I think they just missed her. They are confident tomorrow will be fine!

I've got a 5 hour meeting at work which is going to drag massively waiting to be able check my phone and see what's happened!
Good luck for Friday everyone :D
