but how can I insure my contents when the house is empty and I'm not sure of the future value of my furniture/electrical/tech? I'm not talking about building insurance, as I'm buying a leasehold and that's covered by the service charge.
I just want to make sure I'm not wasting my money, even if it's just a few quids, given that this purchase is draining my founds to zero (if not in negative territory)
Can I ask you, also, why they're causing you so many problems for the content insurance just because of some works? Am I right assuming you haven't moved your belongings in yet?
We are having issues as some insurers seem to have an issue with the works we are having done on our house, full rewire and removal of boiler and relocation along with radiators etc ....
As for the contents insurance most insurers will do blanket cover and for me it was easier to go for both as with an admin charge ontop it was far cheaper to just do both at the same time.0 -
I am loving all the news on here at the moment, gives everyone else that light at the end of the tunnel0

Currently playing a game of 'when my solicitor says they will report to me in the morning, what time she does actually mean'... my other half has optimistically gone for 10.30am whereas me the realist has gone for 11.45am...
I have that game to play with the solicitor and EA. I'm getting pretty good at it now..."report in the morning" usually means in a week. I guess they didn't say which morning. I think my chain is on the brink of collapse. Solicitor and vendor in the middle of the chain has stopped responding to anyone. Not looking good.:(0 -
supposed to be completing tomorrow! But my sol is on leave today, and we are awaiting confirmation of a minor formality from sellers before sol will complete! talk about it leaving late!! The system here needs a revamp, leaving so much risk on all parties.0

I've just had an update... "Still waiting for local searches, were hoping to exchange and complete on the same day next week"

Oh no! Hope it all works out!
I caved and emailed at 11.50am as I decided morning stopped at 12. She replied instantly saying it was being typed as I emailed... but compared to your solicitor I guess I shouldnt complain!0 -
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Vampyr.
Oooh Mutley - so last minute! are you exchanging and completing on the same day?
Chazzab - here's hoping we both exchange today
My sol emailed at 8.22 this moring to get an answer to my lenders query! But I decided not to check my emails before I got to work so didn't reply until 10:eek: it was me being slow today. (I have an hour commute and didn't think she'd email so early, normally I'm chasing)
She's checking they will release the funds and how much, to see if we can exchange, so it could happen today, or tomorrow or Monday :rotfl: esp as my broker said he'd had them email him yesterday saying they had confirmed release of funds for completion on the 30th. The waiting is killing me.0 -

Yes that's how it looks. And my sol is on leave today. Awaiting an access issue to be confirmed by vendor, for some reason they wont commit to on paper. I don't even have insurance arranged yet! Can B&C cover be taken out on same day?
Yes - and you can get some quotes today and they will remain valid for as long as 30 days.
Don't forget cashback0 -
Yep Mutley it can they can start it same day0
