Well disappointingly but not surprisingly we’ve heard nothing from the solicitor about the outstanding form and when we might be able to complete. We’ve tried to get hold of the solicitor today but seems she has started her Christmas break without bothering to update us either way. Message left with her assistant for a call back but not hopeful they will bother calling.
looks like an uncertain Christmas for us then and no news until 3rd Jan when they open up again0 -
Just catching up with this thread. I’m so pleased to see some of you exchanging/completing ahead of Christmas. Also sorry to see some of you are still left in the dark over the festive period. Frustrating.A very big Thank you to those of you who have taken your time and offered me support and advice, during which has been an extremely stressful time.I want to wish you all, and your families, a very happy, healthy and safe Christmas and new year. I look forward to seeing your (hopefully positive!) updates at the beginning of the new year.4

Sorry to see so many people having to sit it out over xmas without news . I remember being in that position ,firstly 4 years ago & away from family.Xmas was a tough one that year.
Similar happened last year with offer accepted in November us our buyer & seller . No mortgages , no surveys..sadly a few weeks after our cash buyer pulled out a couple of days before exchange was due
God I was pretty near breaking point as I was so miserable where I was...BUT , we stopped to think things over , accepted an offer on the person next in line , full mortgage, FTB, surveys so couldn't get more difficult especially with a very old house.
We decided not to continue on with our purchase but always wanted a full renovation job one last time so that's where we are now. Our sale went through very quickly, we bought some land alongside a gifted plot to my husband & this Xmas we are feeling a bit cramped as we are living onsite in a mobile home looking forward to the biggest renovation I have ever done in the New Year
I'm on the very wrong side of 50 but looking forward to the next 12 months. For all of you stressing then please don't it won't change the outcome whatever it is. Just take this next 2 weeks to work out what you are going to do if the worst does happen & plan, that way if it does then you know where you are going. Things happen for a reason so there will be something far better if it doesn't turn out the way you'd hoped... but it may turn out much better .
Life is fleeting so don't waste it worrying. Enjoy Xmas & New Year with friends & family, that is what is important not your postcode5 -
So we were ready and have been chasing exchange since November 28th.
After numerous enquiries they kept raising it was agreed Monday they were finally ready for exchange and it was put on the partners desk for sign off.
My solicitor has chased Tuesday, Thursday and estate agent has been chasing every day.
It was signed off at 2.45 today, just before they were finishing at 3.
My solicitors closed at 2.30 today...
I assume they aren't open until January so I guess we'll exchange on the 3rd and complete the 16th now.
Fell in love with a house I viewed today so will be offering when they reopen.0 -
My buyers had a survey today, quite an in-depth one as she was here 2 hours in total. No idea if that’s quick or not, guessing it could be as we are only a week in to accepting. Panicking so much now as no house to buy on the horizon!0

I lost the plot a bit yesterday as my solicitor said they would be open until fri 23rd so if the transfer form arrived in the post they would be able to discuss completion dates.
due to the post strike I was worried but another form had been sent via guranteed next day delivery so should have arrived yesterday.
we chased solicitor only to be told she had the day off and the message we left with her assistant for a call back was ignored.
so still none the wiser whether the form has arrived and no idea about dates so we are in the dark until they re open 3rd Jan.
I was fuming because they couldn’t even be bothered to calm to update us before Christmas so anxiety levels through the roof
however nothing I can do now so off to enjoy christmas
merry Christmas and thanks to all
for the words of support and wisdom along the way
