Oh my goodness what a wild ride.
Reminder: We set a deadline to exchange today, otherwise we're not breaking the chain and moving out before Christmas, because it simply doesn't leave us enough time.
After all the drama last few days, everyone was ready to exchange today.
I get a call from our estate agent in my lunch break. Turns out our buyer would like to come round for a final viewing today, before exchange, because he hasn't seen the flat in a while.
I basically flew off the handle at that pointIf he wanted to see it again, he had WEEKS to arrange that, not just spring a viewing on me with half an hour's notice. The flat is messy, we're in the process of sorting through all our stuff so we can pack to make sure HIS mortgage offer doesn't run out. I basically said point blank no, too late, and if this delays exchange then he can go shove his pre Christmas move where the sun don't shine.
He seems to have gotten the message, and I'm pleased to report that we managed to exchange on our sale at 3pm today. Hallelujah.
Let the packing commence, and we'll see whether we manage to play catch up on our purchase - completion (for our sale) is on the 19th of December, so the clock is ticking.5 -

I was rushing round like a blue arsed fly buying house insurance for it now not to be needed yet anyway 😂
Our solicitor is a local highstreet firm - she said they emailed her at 16:07 to say can we exchange today, she hadn’t even read the email and they called her at 16:15 to exchange.. she said she of course needs our authority so could they call her back at 16:45 but they never did. She said they are notoriously hard to get hold of (premier property lawyers) so she’s emailed and asked them to call again on Monday.
Fingers crossed!1 -
The only news today was that the solicitor at the bottom of the chain has been unable to contact their own client for 2 days. Completion Monday obviously off, other than that, no idea.
Sorry for your setback 1616six - but it looks like it won't be long.
Congrats julicorn2018 - £562 2019 - £130 2020 - £276 2021 - £106 2022 - £1401 -

@julicorn brilliant news on the exchange
@1616six how frustrating that you were racing around and exchange didn’t happen. Fingers crossed for Monday
@JohnTheSkier great news on the exchange
@hdh74 how frustrating - it completely baffles me that people just don’t reply to anything. Hope that Monday brings some answers
no news here so guessing that enquiries are still outstanding. Will chase again early next week and there goes another week of being no closer
