The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

I'd be chasing the estate agent 3 times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday)nicknameless said:What would you do?
Been waiting for a while for news of progress with our seller's purchase (chain of 3, us at the bottom). We have been ready to exchange for about 5 weeks. Last updates were that they were still waiting for answers to queries and an outstanding search. That was a few weeks back. I have the vendors number and 2 weeks ago was told still waiting for these things. I don't want to harass but equally there has been nothing in terms of info flowing our way.
Would you chase vendor or EA, or sit back and relax (fat chance lol)? I am half thinking we are being kept in the dark about something but that could just be nerves here.

We have exchanged! HOORAY! Completion on the 11th.
We made the offer back in February (around the 21st) so it's been a while... I am so looking forward to getting my brain back!1 -
Updatesss! Completion set for 26th August. Sent exchange deposit this morning but still no exchange date communicated - I assume it must be imminent!2

For those of you who seem to have been awaiting to exchange etc for up to and over 6 months, was there a reason it took so long? I’ve been awaiting enquiries coming back for a couple of weeks and getting worried I’ll be waiting that long too! 🫣1

With us (around 5 months) it was a mix of things. We were the bottom of a chain. Short chain and people found places relatively quickly (could have been slower, at least!), but a chain nonetheless. We offered at the end of Feb, chain was complete by the end of April. Our biggest delay after this point was the top of the chain forgetting (?) to do a survey, so had to wait for exchange, and then a solicitor at the top not replying to emails/calls.euphoriik said:For those of you who seem to have been awaiting to exchange etc for up to and over 6 months, was there a reason it took so long? I did keep contact with both my solicitor and the EA. I think it helped that later I got friendlier with the vendor, and we managed to coordinate our nudges to solicitors and EA which did move things along!0 -
Our vendor is buying a new build and had one enquiry that no one seemed fussed about chasing until I got involved and got it resolved. The new build is fully done, and has been for months, we were told it would be quick but you can’t really plan for delays. Almost there! Our enquiries were done within a week. I’m sure yours isn’t the same situation as mine, but if there’s a chain involved then they can drag on!euphoriik said:For those of you who seem to have been awaiting to exchange etc for up to and over 6 months, was there a reason it took so long? Cried in the toilets at work today. Offer accepted 2nd March and still not even an exchange date in a three-person chain. That is all!0

I'm so sorry. It's a wretched process... you couldn't really design it to be more stressful. I hope it happens soon. xHWBY said:Cried in the toilets at work today. Offer accepted 2nd March and still not even an exchange date in a three-person chain. That is all!0
