Given that the original needs signing by both parties I don't see any other way...Desperatehousemove said:So we've finally got in touch with our solicitors who have sent the contracts out for us to sign via post! Gah! How long will that take to come!0 -
Not ridiculous at all, unless you've given permission to the solicitor to sign on your behalf (like the Scottish system) that's the way it has to be...No41edwardianhouse said:
Sounds familiar. The last person in our chain had their contracted posted by snail mail earlier this week! Absolutely ridiculous. We are suppose to exchange this week - one day left!! They are hoping the contract is there and ready to sign when they get home from work.Desperatehousemove said:So we've finally got in touch with our solicitors who have sent the contracts out for us to sign via post! And the other party has to sign it...0

also not sure it’s correct that the original needs signing by both. Each solicitor needs a “clean” copy.harz99 said:

really, well having done this 4 times I’ve never signed a copy that’s already been signed by anyone. Ever. So, either my solicitor has done it incorrectly or it’s a different situation.harz99 said:And the other party has to sign it...0 -
In my world, to be legally binding any contract needs to be signed by all parties involved...No41edwardianhouse said:

Excellent news! Pleased for you. We were going to exchange today but the solicitor at the top of the chain couldn’t be reached and it was rather late in the day admittedly. Sigh. So fingers crossed for exchange first thing in the morning and completion a bit later in the day. Feel light headed with nerves!kerpoo said:Well after a stressful week we finally exchanged today and all funds are with the sols so completing tomorrow! Cannot actually believe it.
@lugtigheid @Knotty13 @Lwizzle I think you were all hoping to complete tomorrow too - hope all goes smoothly for you!Good luck to everyone hoping to complete tomorrow.1 -
Perhaps they did receive the email and decided it wasn't convenient for them. Doing nothing meant they could blame somebody else.Nicbetty said:Exchange failed as person at top of chain didn’t get the email from solicitor confirming 20th ok .Why the heck doesn’t the solicitor pick up phone 🤦♀️🤦♀️0
