That's true. They were told they couldn't start the searches until the Mortgage offer. Update today was they are waiting for some replied to enquries. I am aware it can take weeks/months.

I'm still following along here, even though we're still in the 'waiting for the chain to fully form' stage. 
We have: 
FTB (offer accepted January)
our buyer (offer accepted February)
us (offer accepted March)
our seller (still looking).

The rest of the process is moving along, we've all had our surveys and mortgage offers, most of the searches are back and initial enquiries raised. Just hoping for our seller to find somewhere soon, and for that to be the end of the chain...

Was supposed to exchange today, heard nothing from our buyers until quarter to 5 saying they haven't got release of funds. I cannot deal with another weekend of uncertainty!

Hello all, feeling mega frustrated here and fed up.  We seem to be taking one step forward and two back.

We finally had news of a complete chain after 6 months in the process.  There's been LOTS of hiccups along the way with our buyers trying to find somewhere and eventually after 4 attempt they've found a newish build.  

I thought things were coming along nicely when we find out that the place that our buyers have found have communal grounds and therefore their solicitor needs to see a management pack.  We've been told requesting one of these packs can take weeks and weeks which now jeopardises our date we had set for completion.  We really can't afford to extend the mortgage offer again so it's now or never.   

We have 7 weeks until our mortgage offer completely runs out.  Does anybody have experience of how long it can take to obtain a management pack?

I now thinking I need to put in writing that if we can't complete by XX date then we will need to pull out in the hope it speeds things up but I also know sometimes it makes zero difference.

Sent our deposit money to the solicitor on Friday and they've advised that they will look to exchange tomorrow... 

..bottle of wine is chilling ready to hopefully celebrate!

We had word on Friday that the previous boiler issue is now resolved and that the agents think that exchange should be possible this week. Our solicitor has been absolutely amazing and has diarised another call to the agents tomorrow to try and make sure exchange is pushed through this week.

I am also on the list for potential exchange early next week. I instructed my estate agent on Friday morning to re-advertise, and within half an hour I was informed that the buyer was transferring their deposit that day. They seem to have forgotten that EVERYONE wants to move before Easter, so getting removals isn't easy and therefore we can't complete next week, but hopefully the week after Easter can happen.

@Twins not exactly the same situation as you but we are buying a place with a shared driveway and needed a management pack from Bellway. We waited weeks and weeks until I decided to call them myself and get an answer. Immediately resolved once I did that.

Maybe just stay on top of your solicitor or whoever is finding the answer, in our experience solicitors aren't always the most proactive in following up

We are still waiting for exchange now, with a supposed completion date of Thursday the 14th of April. I have no nails left and this has left us (FTBers) very anxious about everything. It's hard, not having the confirmation that this will actually happen after a year of faffing and the chain falling through multiple times. Just. Want. It. Done.

I could have written this myself! Completion set for this Thursday but exchange still pending. The anxiety is through the roof!
