Call from our solicitor - apparently the last issue at the top of the chain is now resolved so a message is going up the LONG chain to agree for a completion date before the 28th because that’s when my second mortgage offer runs out. I’m exhausted not excited but at least it’s something. Might actually be in this month!

Sounds good. Hoping we get similar news today or tomorrow. There was one outstanding enquiry on the last property!

They’re usually quite quick but they’ll need to agree who’s paying 🙄

Yup - both sides refusing to pay. Wish we could just say “look, we’ll pay” - surely it’s going to be less than £100!!

We didn't have the paperwork for our boiler installation (done before we lived here) so we paid for an indemnity policy. It was £18.
I hope you manage to get it resolved!

Offer accepted 17th Feb, solicitors instructed same day. Memorandum of sale received 21st Feb. Mortgage offer received on the 22nd March, signed the mortgage deed and sent it back to the solicitors. Survey carried out on the 15th March.
However last I heard our solicitors are still waiting to receive the draft contract pack from the sellers.. The estate agent assured me this was being sent out by the end of the week ending 25th March but I’ve heard nothing since. The seller’s vendor has also only just sent out their contract pack. I thought things were moving quickly with the mortgage and survey etc but turns out we’re 6 weeks in and barely started! Very nervous as my last purchase fell through at around 11 weeks.. Just don’t want a repeat of that.
I don’t want to worry you but we had the same. We cancelled the building survey after we sent an ultimatum to the EA saying it would not go ahead until our solicitor received the contract pack after 2 months of waiting. Our sellers solicitors were Premier Property Lawyers (bad). We managed to contact the sellers direct and talk them into changing to a local Solicitors who my solicitor recommended. Now all proceeding much faster. Don’t believe anything the EA says, they will only tell you what they think you want to hear, especially if its their commission paying solicitors that they had recommended to the sellers (as in our case). Hope im wrong and it works out 👍
Yeah my previous sellers were using premier property lawyers via purplebricks, wouldn’t touch either again. Current sellers are using Ryder and Dutton and a local solicitors so I’m hoping we might start getting somewhere. In fairness the EA has been ringing me weekly with updates on their onward purchase. My own fault really as with the mortgages offers all being sorted I thought the contract packs would already have been done. Just wishing I hadn’t already paid out for the survey!

I was going to say ours has an indemnity policy that was less than £30 - our seller paid but I’d have paid to get it over the line 🤣

Just on purple bricks who my sellers advertised with - originally they were absolutely rubbish as post sales support and never got back to me but recently I’ve got through to two absolute gems and they’ve found out way more than the solicitors could. Also on my last call she said they’re a very reactive service so if I want an update or them to chase then to just keep calling - first time someone in this process has said just keep badgering us! Obviously this is only two people in a huge factory but I actually felt like someone was listening/acting by calling!
