Last day of the week. I can’t take anymore. I really hoping for some news today. Good luck everyone.

Me too! 🤞 good luck x
Same! Although clearly expecting miracles.. my solicitor is the least proactive person I’ve ever had to deal with so we’ve just sat here hoping for a call/email and continually chasing to get no details.

Also supposedly getting exchange today, after just on 6 months. fingers, toes, and eyes all crossed! Good luck people

My estate agent keeps making pacifying noises at me, which doesn't help. I'm willing to believe that the buyer has been ill/has a baby/has work and it's difficult to get the bank. But why would you keep someone in suspense for no reason?

There's something else on the agenda. Play hardball.

Yep so they only had 4 working days not 5 so this is why they are taking so long to decide whether they will have the funds in time. So now my solicitor has said what if we complete a day later then they have the 5 days to get funds.

I honestly don’t know what to believe anymore.

  • Still hoping to complete on the 7th or week of but now a potential (hopefully not huge) spanner in the works.

Solicitor left a voicemail on Wednesday saying that she's sending documents for me to sign that I should receive today at the latest. Waited in for the post Thursday and today and didn't get any emails either. Just rang and spoke to someone in the office who went and spoke to her. Apparently there's been a "miscommunication" and she hadn't looked at my file let alone was sending me anything but I might get something next week. A few minutes later my actual solicitor rang me back saying she might be able to email some documents out today for me to print, sign and send back, still didn't say which documents. Then offhandedly in a by the way tone asked if I'm going to be redeeming my mortgage when I buy the new place because otherwise I'll be in breach of the terms of my mortgage offer. I'll not be redeeming my mortgage since I'll be letting it with consent from my existing mortgage provider and my broker was aware of that from the start when applying for this mortgage. I've read through the offer again and I can't see where it says about needing to redeem an existing mortgage but I'm taking her word for it. She's going to contact my broker and said it might just be a "paper exercise" to get it changed and the 7th is still possible but I'm seriously worried.

Stress levels for this purchase were a comfortable 2 and as of five minutes ago are now at an 8. I knew it was going too smoothly to be true.
  • I have a update…..

    it’s kind of good news!!!!

buyers solicitor rang 4:55 to say she is ready to exchange now as Barclays have confirmed funds will be available for Tuesday. Downside my sellers solicitor had gone home by the time she called them.
    (understandable)

so exchange apparently will happen Monday morning. My solicitor said still obviously a small risk but everything is in place only reason it wouldn’t go through is if buyers changes their mind. I said I’m doubting they will as I’ve had 3 letters addressed to them already. 😂

so everyone have your fingers crossed for Monday to exchange and complete Tuesday. I don’t drink but if this happens Tuesday night I’m getting a bottle of wine and getting sloshed!!

I want to be excited as I think we are finally there but i have got this doubt because of the past few weeks but the buyer solicitor did say if she sends the funds back again because we don’t complete then the buyer has to do their application again.

So im sure she will want to get this off her desk.

First thing Monday morning, you’ll be there!

Fingers toes eyes & ears all crossed for you. I’ll also be ‘holding my thumbs’ (Swedish equivalent).

If you want to celebrate but not drink, I can recommend something like a Friexenet 0% or Nozeco 0% (£4.50 & £3.75 Sainsburys but widely available)

or just go with plan A & get sloshed!
