So we exchanged last week and now have a set in stone date of Feb 18th for completion. What do we do prior to this day ? everything has been paid and signed, do we just wait until we get the call to get the keys now ?
Been stressing for the past almost 5 months, it feels like I'm missing something to stress about !0 -
Your solicitor will confirm with a call to say completion has taken place & agent will tell you where to collect the keys0

Our solicitors enquiries raised an request for a building regs certificate on an extension which was built many years ago, before the last two owners of the property. We've agreed to go halves with the vendor on an indemnity policy which our solicitor said they need to get agreement from Natwest for.
Does anyone know how long this usually takes and I assume it's normally ok'd by them?0 -

we’re FTBs and it’s a cash purchase. We started looking in 2019 and had had a few obstacles along the way - really hoping this year is our year!
9/10/21 - viewed house. Put offer in same day. No chain above or below
11/10 - offer accepted. Solicitors instructed.
5/11 - survey completed
15/12 - searches back
We had a brief moment of excitement where we thought we could exchange before Christmas but our solicitor brought us back down to earth when they talked us through the outstanding enquiries. The main issue is an improvement grant the seller took out some years ago to adapt parts of the house - this came from the council and we don’t know how much it was or if it needs paying back. Apparently it could run up to 30K! So that made us put the brakes on pretty sharpish. We’re now waiting on the council to provide this information and I’m just hoping they’re desperate for money and will get back to the solicitors quickly!
BF and I are trying so hard to relax about it. I can’t believe how stressful it’s been. I never want to move again after thisI suppose it’s just another day for them but for us it’s taken literal YEARS so I guess we were expecting everyone else to be as excited as us!
It still feels very surreal. I think when we’ve started work on it and it begins to take shape it’ll truly start feeling like our home. I’m hoping we can properly move in about a month.
Thanks to everyone here for your encouragement and support. It’s really helped. I’m never moving again - buying a house is brutal
Good luck to everyone waiting!4
