  • I'm drained. Our buyer has given his contract and deposit in but one of our sellers is in the navy and yet to return the TR1 and give authority. Apparently it's winging it's way from whatever ocean he's in. Fed up of being told things by different people and getting no feedback unless I'm chasing. Still hoping to complete on the 6th

Confirmation today that we exchange and complete on December 2nd. Week today!! So much to do until then and I’ve heard horror stories of exchanging and completing it on same day.
we are doing both today hopefully. I am not sure why its turned out that we are doing both on the same day but it just has. I asked my solicitor yesterday if it will be ok doing both and she said yes, its fine there's normally only issues when there is a chain, not sure if there is a chain in yours but we are chain free so keeping positive that it all should go ok.
How did it go? We are a chain of 3. FTB below us, then our vendors are moving into an empty property. Actually they’ll have a vendor too won’t they so that’s a chain of 4! Eek.

Absolutely normal. Until you get the phone call from your solicitor to say you've exchanges/completed (or both :o) that feeling will always be there

Feeling a little better as our vendor got in contact to say they've been having problems with the immense slowness of their solicitor and have raised it up to senior partner because it's been taking too long. While it's less than ideal at least it's a known reason for why it's so slow, plus shows the vendors are still very keen. Have to say, our solicitor has been fine. Not always the easiest to get hold of but in no way as bad as theirs it seems! Even if she does scare me a little.
  • I've been lurking on this thread for weeks now, and reading other people's posts has helped keep me sane through this whole process.

We had our offer accepted on 19 July (after a previous sale/purchase fell through due to Covid) and finally we actually have dates!

We're hoping to exchange on Weds (1st) and complete next Thurs (9th). Our buyer has confirmed he's happy with the dates and the property we're moving to is currently empty. Fingers crossed!

Well mine haven't said they are closed.  ;)

To be fair I don't mind if it's before. It would just be massively convenient to me if I can move before I start my new job 60 miles away in January. I know it's pretty unlikely, but if I don't put it out there and ask the universe/everyone involved, then there is no way it can happen.

My solicitors are amazing and have already sent me a sale contract. My mortgage company are a bit slow and have insisted on sending me a paper mortgage application through the post for the porting. My buyer is still to organise a survey, I think.

I also vote completely normal. This is what makes house moving so completely stressful.
