I'm in the process of buying and we were aiming for end of March with chain etc but now unexpectedly looking at end of January! Cue mild panic!
  • Anyone else still being held up by the issues at premier property lawyers? We have set a date of 8/12 to complete but our vendors solicitors still haven’t confirmed this (vendor has) and apparently the attack on their system means delays in communication which are preventing exchange.
Getting very stressed as time goes by, our mortgage offer expires 10/12 and the bottom of the chain have drawn down H2B monies which needs to be used on the 8th.
I keep emailing my solicitor who says he hasn’t heard anything, and also my vendors Estate Agents who say they have emailed the solicitors.

Everyone has gone silent on me!

We were told that the vendors in the middle were going to be abroad for most of December and definitely wanted to exchange before they went, with an aim to move early next year. This was fine by us.

However they wanted to exchange "late November, early December" which is now upon us and I just can't get any information out of anyone!

Our solicitor says the proposed completion date has not been responded to, despite the fact it was the date suggested by our vendor in the middle and we were merely agreeing. Sales Progressor hasn't got back to me.

We're due to be exchanging this week or next and no one seems to want to respond. Getting very annoyed.

We've started selling off furniture due to knowing we'll struggle to shift it as we approach Christmas and our house is starting to look a little bleak...
  • I'm currently waiting on my mortgage lender to update to my new solicitor so I can put the PPL drama behind me. I chased my lender today asking where my solicitors update was. Turns out they've changed from PPL to a new firm who I have nothing to do with! So this random solicitor firm has my mortgage offer.... Looks like they took the solicitor postcode and just selected the wrong firm name and address. Then my poor solicitor couldn't pass security to fix it  So back of the queue for them to fix their mistake. My buildings survey is scheduled for next week so fingers crossed nothing major crops up.

It would probably be quicker to stay with PPL rather than start all over again with a new solicitor.
  • Very mixed emotions here, we are exchanging and completing today. So I am feeling nervous, hoping it all goes ok but really excited too that we could be homeowners by the end of the day. Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly cos nothing else has in this process. I think I will cry with relief when we finally get the keys.

Confirmation today that we exchange and complete on December 2nd. Week today!! So much to do until then and I’ve heard horror stories of exchanging and completing it on same day.
we are doing both today hopefully. I am not sure why its turned out that we are doing both on the same day but it just has. I asked my solicitor yesterday if it will be ok doing both and she said yes, its fine there's normally only issues when there is a chain, not sure if there is a chain in yours but we are chain free so keeping positive that it all should go ok.

I'm off to the bank today to transfer money to my solicitor. I need to transfer more than I'm allowed to in one day, so I'm expecting to do part of it today and part of it tomorrow. I find the prospect of all that money disappearing into the ether absolutely horrifying...

Just waiting to ring them to get payment details. I also need to try and clarify whether we are exchanging in advance or exchanging/completing same day.

Good luck to those expecting to exchange and/or complete today!
  • I've officially given up on chasing for now.

Hopefully everything will just happen one random day and then we're ready to go!

Good luck to those exchanging and/or completing today!
  • Good luck to the brave people exchanging and completing today.

I am joining the thread again. I bought in Summer 2020, completing in September, but I am now moving to the seaside after such a short period. I have sold mine on Monday, and I had an offer accepted a week ago. I would like to complete between xmas and new year, but I am aware that is really REALLY optimistic. Only a two-property chain, but my buyer is a first time buyer, so I am going to be chasing and giving loads of direction via the estate agents I think. :sunglasses:
