I am joining the thread again. I bought in Summer 2020, completing in September, but I am now moving to the seaside after such a short period. I have sold mine on Monday, and I had an offer accepted a week ago. I would like to complete between xmas and new year, but I am aware that is really REALLY optimistic. Only a two-property chain, but my buyer is a first time buyer, so I am going to be chasing and giving loads of direction via the estate agents I think. Can I ask how are you planning to complete between Xmas and new year? Are both the solicitors open? Mine closing a few days before and aren’t opening again until beginning of January.Good luck with it all.0 -
Just had a phone call from EA to say 17th December is not going to be possible as top of the chain are not ready. So it will be a January completion date now.☹️0

So apparently all we are waiting for is the freeholder's solicitor to return a signature to our buyer's solicitor for everyone to exchange. All deposits are with the solicitors, all contracts signed etc. Our buyer has threatened to march round to the freeholder's solicitor's office and get them to do it in person if its not back by Monday 😂1

I have been to the bank and transferred an uncomfortably large sum of money to my solicitor. Have had to buy myself some nice lunch to get over the shock of it!3

Everyone is still ignoring me.
Got our mortgage amendment back today (saving us £200 per month from when we were initially offered).
I've sent this over to my solicitor and aside from transferring the funds on Monday... I think we're ready to exchange.
Is anyone else ready to exchange? I don't know... because nobody will answer me.

Hi all, exchanged and completed simultaneously today and just picked up the keys!
Our vendor went into rented - sometimes it does it all work out.
Good luck to everyone on their journey, ours took 6 months and I've aged 20 years! Haha7 -
Just transferred my deposit. Feel a bit sick! But at least it's there. Will we exchange next week? Who knows!1

T4taylor said:Anyone else still being held up by the issues at premier property lawyers? We have set a date of 8/12 to complete but our vendors solicitors still haven’t confirmed this (vendor has) and apparently the attack on their system means delays in communication which are preventing exchange.Getting very stressed as time goes by, our mortgage offer expires 10/12 and the bottom of the chain have drawn down H2B monies which needs to be used on the 8th.I keep emailing my solicitor who says he hasn’t heard anything, and also my vendors Estate Agents who say they have emailed the solicitors.
My vendor was with them and we managed to change and complete this week - what my solicitor needed to do was keep calling them and calling them. It's apparently no point sending emails as they're just not getting through right now.
