  • @Borisbearworrier What a nightmare process this is. I would say that this could be salvaged without losing too much time if your buyer's buyer only accepts offers from parties ready to move quickly. In my experience this year, we've sometimes had chain info before agents have. I'd be on phone first thing Monday to brief your agents though. Good luck!
  • Thanks. I think it is our onward purchase who may not want to wait. I'm happy to but feel the agents haven't really had control of this chain. Hopefully I'll know more Monday but apparently this person backed out mid week so I'm surprised i hadn't heard sooner

Yeah, that does sound rubbish on the agents' part. Really hope your seller can be persuaded. That's where a great agent comes in handy. Ours has talked round our buyer more than once and I'm hoping he'll be able to do it again now that we've reached exchange. Our agent is also hoping to talk round the people at top of the chain (who are threatening to pull out). You just need one agent in the chain willing to pull it all together. Fingers crossed yours can pull this off for you.
  • Sounds like you are having a bigger nightmare than me.
Trying not to worry about it as there is nothing I can do until 9am Monday. At that point I'll be straight on the phone to get some clarity
  • So finally I am due to exchange tomorrow for completion Tuesday. Do people do it this quickly? Solicitor's sent this email out about quick exchange/completions that have now given me anxiety! A ahhh I want it all to be done it's been soo stressful!

Only a few days between exchange and completion seems to have become the norm during the pandemic, and is sadly sticking around. We're meant to complete Thursday, and have been failing to exchange for over a week. Really hoping it happens tomorrow as the uncertainty is driving me mad with anxiety.

Fingers crossed for you tomorrow - will be looking out for good news!

Thank you...fingers crossed for you too. Yeah I think solicitor's panicked me with an email about how with short exchange/completion date all the extra work they have to do and if I don't complete being in breach of contract just out the Willie's up me so to speak

Oh my god, that sounds so stressful! And pretty unprofessional tbh. Our contract with our solicitor includes a fast completion fee, presumably to cover the cost of the additional work. But it's not totally unexpected or impossible, particularly at the moment. Plenty of people on here who have only had a day or two between exchange and completion.
