cheeky-peach said:Top of our chain (house above the house we are buying) has said they want to complete within 3 weeks. We are still waiting on answers to enquires for our purchase though and I believe our vendor is waiting on the answers to enquires for the top of that purchase. Is it even doable? Assuming they get back to us soon, fingers crossed it may be.2

So we are finally starting to discuss exchange although still have to receive, sign and return the contract yet!Good luck to everyone who seems so close now!1 -

Our solicitor is now on leave for personal reasons and a firm director will take over. Enquiries from our buyer have been responded to, and we're awaiting responses to our enquiries from our seller.
Our buyer is having his remortgaged property surveyed tomorrow, and then they'll book their survey for here.
They have, apparently, committed to being "keen" for a September completion.
My nerves are frayed. Someone have a wine for me, the pregnant non-alcohol stuff isn't cutting it 😂
if it’s any consolation, even the real alcohol stuff doesn’t quite cut it with the stresses of house buying….I would definitely recommend reaching for the chocolate 🍫 although my jeans may not agree 😂0 -

I think they wanted to do this to us all along!!! The delay caused by our buyer’s solicitor and lender just gave them the excuse to justify this course of action. It’s so very annoying of them to do it four days from exchange though. I offered full asking price when it was listed so it wasn’t like I tried to cheat them in any way. Needless to say we will not be pursuing purchase of their property at any price!!! Congrats to those of you who have either exchanged or completed!!!!
There really should be some protections for buyers for these sorts of situation, because it's totally unfair to string someone along and have them spend money on the process for them to decide suddenly they'd actually like more money. Like you said, it sounds like they were just looking for an excuse. Fingers crossed you'll find something better being sold by less selfish people soon!
My mum and dad had paid for a survey and he argued with the fact the roof was goosed, So as my mum left she gave the copy of the survey to the next person viewing the property.
4 Months later they get a call off the EA asking if they were still interested in the house at a heavily reduced rate, Short answer no.
She had taken a job that came with a large 3 bed apartment as part of her contract and if she had bought the house she would have been at a major disadvantage.

its shocking that countries like Australia and Japan has e-conveyancing fully working for making property purchasing easier/faster. During Pandemic UK should have stated to use e-conveyancing.
My vendor is International so I suspect the signing of contracts will take weeks due to having to send to different country! Thats if we get to that stage lol1
