Any first time buyers who have exchanged this week and completing this month?
We exchanged on Monday and complete on 1st December! It's been so much quicker than we expected, our offer was accepted on 3rd October!!
  • Ourselves and the other end of the chain are ready to exchange and middle man has been dragging his heels as much as possible (with no explanation) - we were aiming to exchange tomorrow with completion being next Friday.... but for just over a week all we are being told is he is taking in paperwork in / signing.... still not happened. Next week is week 21, I'm coming to the end of my tether and ready for walking away :(

    House Deposit: £40,000 / £30,000 (+H2B bonus) 🍾🎉
Terramundi Pot: Surprise amount until full!

Money in my pot will go towards making our house a home. :D
  • Wow - loads of people exchanging this week - CONGRATS :T:T:T:T

Though yes - I am very jealous :p I really thought I'd be further along by now - but searches have at last been started ( I hope they don't take 4 weeks ) and my sol is happy with my parents proof of deposit. I'm so suprised that it was my sellers holding things up since I was told they wanted a quick sale.
  • Still nothing heard from my solicitors. I last heard from them on the 3rd, from her assistant who said she would confirm receipt of the mortgage offer. I've been trying to get hold of them since to see if received but nothing.
I know two weeks isn't long in the grand scheme of things, and I hope it just means they're busy doing things, but I really don't know when is reasonable to expect a response, and they haven't told me when they can expect searches back or anything.
Getting quite impatient and annoyed now.

No idea how long our searches took - stupid mortgage took three months and so I didn't chase anything else in the meantime as I was so embarrassed the mortgage was taking so long (wasn't actually my fault!)

We are off to see the solicitor to sign thigs :j :j I know it's still nit he end but it feels like some kind of miracle to have just got this far!

(Sorry, appalling overexcited fat fingered phone typing there! :o :rotfl: )
  • I exchanged last Tuesday and completing tomorrow....middle of packing chaos!
  • If stamp duty gets cut in the autumn budget on 22nd Nov - will first time buyers who may have exchanged this week and completing after the budget announcement, benefit from the policy change?

Thank you for the exchange congrats.. We are still in 7th heaven and somehow it all still feels unreal, the whole process however stressful and complicated does come to an end. To be honest we are still slightly stressed even though we exchanged. It is just lingering and we hope that once we have the keys to our home in our hands the stress feelings will be gone.

Yesterday once we knew we exchanged we hastily looked up what a person is meant to be doing in the period between exchange and complete.. I know some people with nerves of steel do it all on one day and right now I can see the attraction of it.

We will get boxes tomorrow and start packing over the next seven days nice and slow. 11 days before we actually move.

To everyone still somewhere in the process just remember to breathe and take each day by day and tick off all the steps one by one.

The hardest part of this whole process is the fact that you have to rely on other people to do their jobs. For someone who likes control that was the hardest part for me. Oh and the NOT knowing what information a search may bring up.

Luckily that is all behind us now but not something we will forget in a hurry..

    Good luck everyone..
