The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

Oh gosh, looking at all the stress so many of you are having with your chains I am super glad we are chain free!
We are still waiting for probate to come through and still have no idea how long that is going to take, so just blindly waiting.
The most annoying thing about our purchase is that before we found out the seller had passed away we had signed all the contracts, handed over our deposit and closed our help to but ISA's. That was in September, so my husband and I have now missed out on interest on the deposit and the bonus from the ISA's.
All very annoying. I am looking forwards to 2018 as I blimmin hope we will be finally in by then!!
We bought a probate property and it still took 6 months, despite probate already being granted when it went on the market. It took 6 months for the vendors to clear out the property. I hope your's is empty! We had a six figure sum sitting with our solicitors for 3 months earning no interest as we thought we were ready to exchange and complete but the vendor wasn't.

I am the weakest link... Surveys due back last Friday, heard nothing so called today to find they were emailed to me last Wed. Went into junk mail and I missed it. Solicitor says I thought it odd you didn't contact me I assumed you were away. So now exchange pushed back a few days and it's basically my fault. Sigh.....0

Oops Scotbot! But actually I quite a lot of delays are probably accidents rather than deliberate sabotage so you're in good company! In a year's time, those couple of days won't seem important... (I hope)
Some progress for us :j :j :j Solicitor rang and said he's not had the official letter from the building society yet, but as it's on its way, we can (FINALLY) go in and sign all the legal docs :j :j So that's on Thursday afternoon :T SO excited and feels like we're finally getting somewhere! :T
Will hopefully be able to get hold of the heating engineer before that, and hopefully arrange a final visit to the place ourselves before we actually exchange - but at this point there doesn't seem to be anything that will stop us from exchanging next week
(of course there will be something :rotfl: but everyone else has been ready and just waiting for our stupid mortgage so hopefully no last minute surprises...)0 -
I’ve just asked for an update from our solicitor, first time I’ve chased them. They are waiting for us to sort gifted deposit form and for 1 equiry from the sellers solicitor! So we’re are close to exchange. Best get hubby to pull his finger out and get that gifted deposit form sorted with his parents!
I’ve really not had the need to chase our solicitor as they are pretty quick and on the ball. Second time we have used them.0 -
We exchanged! Hoorah!
By far the most stressful purchase/sale I've ever done.
Completion set for 6th DecemberOfficially in a clique of idiots0 -
Week 12 and we have finally exchanged this afternoon - completion Friday. What a horrible process it's been - so much uncertainty and waiting.
Looking forward to putting it all behind me!
Good luck to everyone else still waiting.2020 wins: Twitter 14 Insta 6 Online entry 5 Raff 10 -
Great news RedFraggle!
Finally got the news at 3.30pm that everyone in our chain has now agreed to exchange tomorrow and complete on 8 December. Been on tenterhooks all day!
I imagine I'll be exactly the same tomorrow until we get confirmation that it's happened!0 -
Contract received today and aiming for completion on 24th. So relieved that this is finally becoming a reality and no more a dream. Now need to sort removal company.0

Ooh, a flurry of good news, hooray!! Congratulations to you all! Do remember to come back and post moving stories - I'm finally starting to believe we might actually move at some point now so I love to read them!0

Still no exchange.
The contract was received on Monday. They (conveyancers acting for vendor) told the EA they had got it but hadn't done anything with it yet. He told them to get a shift on, in no uncertain terms. They did beggar all.
Today they were again apparently ready to exchange but realised they needed to confirm revised (for the THIRD time) completion date with vendor. Who was in meetings all afternoon so uncontactable.
Nothing would surprise me anymore. Poor EA is getting it in the neck from his managers, who want the sale, the vendor, who is realising the error of her ways in paying peanuts for conveyancers and getting monkeys, and me, who is ringing up pestering every day.0
