Some excitement for us too - we have been in and signed everything, including the mortgage deeds :T Our mortgage took SO long and was SUCH a fiasco I honestly thought this day would never come
Solicitor spent an hour and a half going over everything, and I was incredibly pleased that the searches threw up pretty much NOTHING (surprised too, as the rest of the process has been one palaver after another, and the house has land with it too)
So just the final visit on Monday (we've only visited once... and we're taking a plumber with us this time to just check the heating as it was working and now isn't and the house is empty), solicitor needs to ask one more question about a potential wayleave for maintenance on a telegraph pole, we need to shut the gates to keep the neighbours cows out (!) and that's it! :j
Nobody else seems to have given dates yet so we've got ours in first and he's hopeful that we'll have a date for exchange and completion next week :j
Woo hoo Daff! Nice one. Fingers crossed for next week.
I'm going to my new house with the EA today. (Don't complete til 29th.)
I'm taking the builder & a tape measure, and will beg friendly builder to clear his diary for early December.
I've got the boiler man going round next week (he can't make it today) and I'll ring a couple of sparkies today. I spoke to my mate who does floorboard restoration last night, he can't make it today so I am going to pull up the carpets and take photos of the floorboards for him
Terribly excited at seeing my new house again! Of course, I did dream (again) last night that the roof had fallen in!!!0 -
Ooh, exciting dancing star! :j
I confess I'm a bit nervous about going back - we only viewed ours once back in early August and I'm terrified we'll hate it when we go bavk :rotfl: mind you we did take literally 300 photos which we've looked at endlessly so I kind of feel like we know it inside out :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Moving day today! Bit nervous as haven't seen the flat since the beginning of Sept...all packed, ran out our of boxes so have bin bags of clothes! Man with van coming at midday- I think I peaked too early!! :-)0

Ooh, excitig stuff purple penguin! :j I suspect I'll be quite the opposite - still shoving things in bin liners as they're puttig stuff in the van :rotfl:0

Well, we got excited for less than 24 hours...
... emailed our estate agent this morning first thing to tell them we'd signed everything :j :j
20 mins later got an email to say our buyer's buyer had demanded a massive price reduction, our buyer had refused, so they've pulled out
Our buyer still wants to buy ours, and we'd rather sell to her than re-market this close to Christmas when the whole place is full of boxes
Going to take the weekend to think about what to do - and hope in the meantime our buyer's buyer comes to their bloody senses  we're right at the end so they'll lose everything they've spent already.
Why would you be such a ******?? :mad:0 -
Had terrible news yesterday. We were supposed to exchange yesterday morning with completion today. Yesterday I received an e-mail first thing that my buyers had separated the night before and are no longer proceeding with the purchase. I am devastated. My whole house is packed up, as is my poor seller’s. All that money I have spent is wasted. Back to the drawing board to try and find another buyer before my seller gets another one and I lose the house. Haven’t cried this much in my whole life.0

Oh Regina, not you too
It's dreadful isn't it? Gosh, and you were within a couple of days too - at least we hadn't actually set dates yet
I've not cried yet, but Mr Cheery has taken to his bed. I'm at work so sadly don't have the luxury.
It's our anniversary today too so can't imagine our planned dinner out is going to be a barrel of laughs0 -
Oh Cheery and Regina, so very sorry to hear that
When you were both approaching the final stages too! What utter swines some people are, Cheery
When we were selling our last house in 2014, our buyer's buyer - a bl00dy charity worker - demanded a similar huge price reduction a few days before we were all set to exchange. Fortunately for us, our buyer caved to their demand and didn't ask us to do likewise, so it was only them out of pocket. This was during the first few days of December and we had all planned to complete in time for Christmas so initially this looked under threat. We were very lucky that things still panned out and we completed on the 16th Dec.
Hopefully your buyer's buyer will have a rethink and it'll all be back on again! Is it completely out of the question for the price reduction to be passed along the chain?
I've kept away from posting on this thread till now for fear of jinxing things with our sale, but have heard today that our buyer will be ready to exchange towards the end of next week
We are fortunate that they are not selling their existing house, so the chain ends with them and we are supposed to be buying an empty property. Sadly that isn't going according to plan, so looks as though us, our dogs and our ton of stuff will be going into rented/storage just before Christmas......the last thing I wanted.......but I'll think myself lucky we're not having to start over (fingers crossed)!
Will keep everything crossed for you guys, too!Mortgage-free for fourteen years!
Over £40,000 mis-sold PPI reclaimed0 -
Thanks Phoebe, fingers crossed for you too! :T
No idea if the reduction can be passed along the chain - buyers didn't even ask, they just said no outright. and quite frankly I don't blame them - this type of messing about leaves a very bad taste! My solicitor suggested the same thing - we can't absorb it, but we are buying an empty house from someone whose mum has died - I certainly don't want to start demanding things from them at this stage, but I suppose they may well be willing to stump up something to avoid the whole chain falling apart.
But really, they shouldn't have to  So angry at those people right now! :mad:0 -
oh no! Cheery and Regina thats such sad news. I hope everything works our for you both quickly.0
