People are horrid really, to pull a stunt like asking a reduction at such a late stage is just not on if you agreed a price already and stuck with it al along.. as for the couple splitting up at 99%.. surely the broker- upperer knew before yesterday she/he is going to do it.. nobody just do such a thing on a whim..

I am so sorry that you both have to go through this nonsense and start again. I really wish the whole house buying thing was more secure.. it just seems all screwed up..

Oh Regina and Cheery I'm devastated for you both :(
How can we have a system that allows this to happen? The fact it can happen is what makes it so stressful throughout. There must be a better way.

    Totally agree..

so when you get the pack with the mortgage deed and searches etc did you go into the solicitors to go through them weve had ours emailed to us and hard copies in the post as were pushing to exchange before the end of the month as want to give notice on our rental property at the start of dec and be in our new place for xmas

We just read the e-mails and attachments, our solicitors highlighted anything and everything they thought we should look at. They looked at it on behalf of the lender as well.. Your solicitors will make further searches if anything stands out on the information they been getting from these searches.. if that makes any sense..

To be honest we done our own searches as well online, might have cost us all in £45 to do various bits but it meant that by the time we got the searches and information back from the solicitors we already knew the answers.. and were relaxed about the findings.. It was just the local search we did not do..and that took ages..

  • Moving day experience: well the day itself went ok. All completed by 12 but then the movers van broke down so had a 2 hr delay while he sourced a new one. Meant arriving in the dark which I think added to the weirdness.
    Lessons learmt:
My vender's idea of 'deep clean' is not the same as.mine and I don't even want to know what the weird hair and chalk (kettle build up?) left in the kitchen sink was from.
Don't assume - I assumed she would leave the bathroom mirror that was stuck to the wall and the kitchen sink and bath plugs. Sadly not...trip to hardware store this morning.
I should have packed better, currently have no idea where anything is and dying for a cuppa.

Hope everyone else moving yesterday had a good day!

Glad you're in, it'll be strange at first but you'll soon feel at home :j
The mirror, I can sort of understand, though we will be leaving all our almost new bathroom fittings, but the sink plugs  Some people are just plain weird :rotfl:
  • Week 22. My sellers have an empty house they can move to rent-free whilst chain issues are resolved. They're kicking off on this and that which would all be resolved if they moved. I'm going to tell them on Monday; they move by early December or I'm pulling out. I signed the contract in August, broke the chain, went into rented etc. and yet they remain unwilling to compromise........
They're hinting they're about to pull out anyway, so if anyone gets to issue an ultimatum - I want it to be me.

So we got the call on Thursday to see our buyer had returned their contracts. !!!!!!.
Their surveyor wouldn't budge on their valuation and remained adamant our property is a one bed not two so that's that. The buyer didn't want to try a different lender so pulled out.
My solicitor can't see any issue with it due to how old how the loft conversion is, and I got a mortgage no problem on it three years
Flat back on the market and 4 viewings booked within an hour.
Praying we get some progress with this viewings, one of which is a third time viewed who was pestering the estate agents to let her know if the sale went through.

We are only 4 weeks into the whole process so hoping our vendor gives us benefit of the doubt and doesn't remarket his on the basis we lost our buyer. Everything was going so smoothly too.

Hope everyone has a bit more luck :)

Thanks Pumpkim, we have absolutely everything crossed. Then again, she has been pretty nervous up til now and may cause us more hassle than its worth if she puts in an acceptable offer.
