Congrats to all who have exchanged this week and I hope a few more of us get lucky today!
Today is 3 weeks since our offer was accepted and we have asked our sol to order searches and had our mortgage offered.Need to arrange a survey but can’t decide whether to go with a full structural survey as recommended since the house is about 70 years old… it looks in great condition though, not a renovation project in the slightest, so just wondering if the extra money is worth it. What have other people experienced with surveys?0 -

For the sake of a hundred or so extra quid, it seems worth it to me to get the most detailed report - better that than spend hundreds of thousands to find out there's a major issue.10th June - DIP submitted

14th June - DIP accepted and full application submitted
16th June - Valuation booked for 18th
18th June - Valuation completed - received text and email confirming the report had been received by Nationwide for review.
22nd June - Hard search (Transunion)
24th June - Second hard search (Equifax)
1st July - Extra documents requested and uploaded by Broker
9th July - Proof of Deposit requested and uploaded by Broker
12 July - Searches applied for
19th July - Problem with Proof of Deposit upload - reuploaded by Broker with narrative
19th July - Survey carried out
20th July - Offer issued - checked and confirmed by Broker
21st July - Contract checks complete
22nd July - Additional enquiries sent
23rd July - Survey report returned
27th July - Documents reviewed and okayed with solicitor
4th August - Searches back
31st August - Final enquiries back

Hi, just wanting to hear of others experiences at this stage. My solicitor emailed me earlier this week saying that they are finalising the Report on Title, which they will send to me for signing along with the contract papers and completion statement (in readiness for exchanging contracts). They mentioned once I have those I should contact the seller to arrange a completion date.. does this mean I am nearing the end?! There is no chain and I’ve been told the seller is willing to go at my pace, but how long did you guys wait to get the keys after this point? Thank you!0

But for the surveyor we have been recommended (who seems to have glowing reviews) even the homebuyers survey is significantly more than we budgeted. I thought about going elsewhere but when someone hasn't been recommended how can you know they will do a great job...
Might just have to take the hit to make sure it is done right.0
