The NEW waiting to exchange thread...

I'm finding myself back at this thread, hoping that a man who wants to rent our house exchanges on his sale soon. We've done loads of work to it since completing in September, we just need a tenant now, it's getting colder, we don't want it standing empty for another winter.
Chap was due to exchange last week, has slipped into this week...... fingers drumming......Make £2025 in 2025

It seems we're ready to exchange and the buyers are satisfied with the structural engineer's report (yay!).
BUT... we were all set for 17th completion and I am embarrassed to say I am now the fly in the ointment as I can't get removals. Mine is fully booked now (even though I had said mine was likely to be 17th - there's been so much faffing that I don't think they took much notice), and the recommended ones I had are all booked up too. So frustrating - especially as I am literally so flexible with November dates!
Now hoping everyone can do Tues 21 or Wed 22 Nov or we're at a bit of a stalemate
Can recommend GB Liners as a removal company - we've moved twice with them - fab pack and removal service.Make £2025 in 2025

Can they do earlier? Pack is store it for a few days and you can stay with friends or relies. Given there is such a shortage of properties and transactions I am surprised they are so busy.0 -

Not much of an update but we received notification of sale and EA had received details of mortgage in principle so next will be hoping to hear a survey is booked. Have completed all the sellers forms with hubby last night and got all the relevant certificates for work done and will drop the pack into the solicitors and wait and keep fingers crossed!!!!
30 Oct - Offer accepted
6 Nov - Notification of Sale Received & seller forms and docs dropped at Solicitors0 -
Received our (wrong) mortgage offer in the post this morning :rotfl: Here's hoping for the right one tomorrow! :wall:
Rang round a few builders for quotes for our boingy upstairs floors. Ranged from £1k and a couple of days, to £4-10k and 4 weeks 'and I'll come and look at your boiler and electrics and give you a quote for replacing them too'. Er, thanks but no.
Don't think we'll be asking for a reduction as most of it didn't come as a surprise, but the sellers have ticked the box saying the boiler is fully working (and given the certificate from when it was fitted), but it's now showing an error code, so I'd like that sorted out before we sign anything.
Seller's estate agent has chased me again saying seller's solicitor is 'concerned' we haven't had mortgage offer yet - at least I can now say they've issued it but it had a typo in and they're doing it again today.
Going to try to put it out of my mind for the rest of the day - easier said than done!0 -
My timeline so far:
06/9/17 - Met broker, handed over all docs and did factfind
09/9/17 - view 4 house, really love number 3, sleep on decision
10/9/17 - put in offer - accepted an hour later!
11/9/17 - API sorted with Pepper
11/9/17 - solicitor instructed -
12/9/17 - full application put in
30/9/17 - valuation done
6/10/17 - Mortgage offer received for full amount :j:j:j:j:j
10/10/17 - money on account given to sols to start searches etc
16/10/17 - I have to tell my sol that my forms are in the office - sat on an empty desk!
17/10/17 - mortgage offer signed and sent back
30/10/17 - sols have received contracts apparently
03/11/17 - I tell sol dealing with my file they have received the contracts! Wasted a week.
So called my sols last Thurs 2/11 - no call back , got hold of them on the Friday and the lady dealing with my file didn't realise the contract had arrived  I had to tell her - so a wasted week when searches could have been started.
Now waiting on another call back for an update - called at 1pm, then 3pm - seriously unimpressed, people weren't joking when they said to call everyday for updates. I thought I'd be in well in time for Christmas but my sols are not making this seem realistic.
Fingers crossed for those hoping for good news - and for me ever getting a call back0 -
