Just catching up, ready to enter another week of constantly checking my phone! Hoping to get the go ahead from lender early this week for the indemnity policy. Solicitor said she can't see a reason for them not to say yes but you never know!

RXT in all honesty I think it's unlikely you'll complete before Christmas. The contract and searches will both generate queries for your solicitor to get answers to and they can take ages. I think the chain of 5 might slow the process down too. Not impossible though. Good luck!

Glad other people feel the the same about weekends! Quite nice not to be jumping every time my phone pings with a new email! It's scary how much of an anxious wreck it can turn you into.
Into a new week, we are only in a small chain - investor buying us and we are buying a probate property so in the best position we can be in really.
Our mortgage valuation booked in for tomorrow with an offer expected end of the week (in theory!) and our buyers have their mortgage valuation on my property Tuesday.
Seems to all be flying through at the moment and a good chance we could have the keys by xmas eeeek.

Good luck everyone for this week :)

Any progress for anyone today?? Some small progress for us

    * broker confirmed lender has approved valuation and is issuing mortgage offer, and i've checked it's for the right amount and it is :j Not celebrating til actual offer arrives, but everyone else seems happy with this, thank goodness

    * collected fittings & contents form for new house and bunped into solicitor in reception - he reckons if he gets mortgage offer this week, we could theoretically be in by the end of the month :j Typical - the last weekend in November is the only weekend all year I've booked to go away :rotfl: I'll be cancelling if there's half a chance of moving though! :j

    * got home to find some post addressed to our buyers!! :rotfl: they've clearly not changed their minds then :rotfl: they're moving for shool catchment, and this is a 'dear parent of...' letter so I assume they've just used this address already thinking they'd have moved by now. Cheeky blighters :p Will send a text later

    * had our survey done on new house this morning - said they'd ring within 24 hours but probably on the same day so waiting to hear.

Trying not to get too excited but it does feel like some progress is being made... :j

Everything is still taking forever. We all (ourselves and the sellers) agreed completion on Wednesday. Exchange was to be Friday or today. Today our solicitor says actually he needs to ask the bank if they can release our funds, also he wants to ask the seller another couple of questions. So no exchange today. Every time we think we're getting somewhere he up and goes "oh actually I still need to do something" which is really infuriating.

He's "confident" that we'll be able to exchange and complete by Wednesday. I don't really believe a word he says anymore but hey. We've been waiting since July now and have paid a lot more in current rent than we wanted to because of all these delays.
  • Another frustrating day with no progress...still aiming for the 16th so tomorrow or Wed to go.
Waiting for other solicitor to reply to 2 questions that I know the vender has replied to and for the managing agents to reply to a couple of queries. Told my solicitor that I am happy with verbal answers and can he ring the managing agents otherwise we'll be waiting for weeks!
Tried calling my solicitor twice today both he and his assistant in meetings / on phone all day. Had a little cry in the toilets at work. Can't eat can't sleep- very real.propsect that I'll be moving to my friends spare room if we don't exchange in time for the weekend of the 18th!! :-( (landlord have new tenant moving in that weekend!).
  • Update:
Got our mortgage deed to sign today.
Solicitors sorting out the gifted deposit paperwork
Still waiting for searches back as far as we know.
Learned that our seller submitted searches last week so they are slightly behind us with paperwork.

Also developed a bit of nervousness around have we picked the right house/what have we taken on omg! Lol!
    It’s a big renovation job.

I think the Solicitors are aiming to exchange end of Nov/early December all being well.

Also hating weekends :( Nothing seems to get done on a Fri either. Mondays seem to be grumpy nagging days all round, then it goes quiet again as the week goes on. ARGHHHHHH!

My vendor's EA has been nagging my buyer's solicitor so much they have now refused to deal with her and said to only speak with my EA.

My buyers apparently haven't even bloody signed! It's crazy. I have no idea what they're waiting for. EA seemed to think they might be waiting for the structural engineer's report in writing - !!!!!! it's 2017. Email it, fax it, whatever! They are due to complete this Friday and have already exchanged!

The rest of the chain are very wound up - me included. We're getting very snappy with each other indoors as we keep going over the same ground and I get really bloody impatient with my OH who tends to repeat the same things (usually as what I've just said to him) and we both start speculating which drives me INSANE as it's just a complete waste of breath. I've probably knocked a year off my life with all the wasted words!!!!

Still hoping for Fri 17th :/

I was just thinking that there is never any progress on a Monday and it's essentially just an extension of the weekend. It appears that there is only a 3 day working week in the conveyancing world :rotfl:

Please let it be tomorrow. 3 months in. No survey issues just incompetence. Only 3 properties in the chain.
