3 months from the AIP then finally at 16:45 today we had the confirmation we had exchanged, it's a new build and expected a floating completion but they pulled a fixed date out the bag this morning, was tight as a few loose ends down the bottom of the chain, but we have done it, been quite a journey as there were plenty of challenges paperwork and with the building, still we can now focus on planning the move bits over the coming weeks.

Good luck to those still waiting, we started this week with the goal of exchanging and we did, but not without the support of our excellent solicitor, local EA, and my other half.... team work.
  • Congratulations to all those making progress this week!

My broker came to discuss life insurance today so one more item ticked off the list. Also my ex partners dad came to take his crap out of my shed that has been sat in there for years so at least when I come to pack/move it is now cleared of all that and only my stuff to sort.

Haven’t heard back regarding my proposed date of 17th, other than my seller is currently working away and needs to see if she can get time off work that day. Nothing from my buyers which is strange (and a bit annoying) after they have put so much pressure on me to hurry up and complete.

My seller has also agreed to leave the living room blinds which is great as it’s one less thing I have to shell out for. Good news as I already have to buy a fridge freezer, washer dryer, two single beds, king size bed, 2 new sofas and bedroom and living room furniture!

Have all my packing boxes ready but haven’t convinced myself to start doing it yet “in case I need it”!

Well it looks like we're heading into yet another weekend without a mortgage offer :wall: They said 'a couple of days' on Wednesday. SO bored of this, especially as everything else is ready now  Stupid estate agents just chased me again - do they really think I'd sit here with a mortgage offer and not bloody tell them?! :wall:

I’m sure you wouldn’t Cheery Daff but it might be that they have a vendor like me harassing them about progress! I’m flip side to you, waiting on my buyers’ mortgage offer result and although i’m sure i’ll hear as soon as the mortgage offer comes through, now we’re 18 weeks on from the offer being made when I’m not hearing anything from the EA, I’ve just made a decision to ring on alternate days otherwise I’ll drive myself potty!

Hope there’s positive news for everyone next week. Such a stressful process, whether you’re buying or selling ☹️
  • Well after a flurry of phone calls at 3.30pm yesterday we still haven't managed to exchange and the deadline to exchange in time for the 16th creeps ever nearer. Latest is that we need a deed of covenant from the managing agents - the same agents that took 3 weeks on the management pack!! - asked my solicitor if it was necessary for exchange and he wasn't all that clear but said it was good to have. Anyone know? Both sides of solicitors ringing them Monday morning so hopefully that will speed things up!!

Ha 22cuddles, I'm sure I'd be exactly the same in your position! Yep, this certainly is stressful whichever side you're on. We are, I suppose, fortunate that everyone else has behaved well and done stuff quickly so far, so while I have to deal with rather a lot of guilt that we are holding everyone up, t least nobody else is messing about! :o

No idea about your question purple penguin, fingers crossed you get an answer on Monday!

    Hello Everyone,

I am still waiting for exchange date - offer accepted 28th July, no chain on either side and still no date! :(

Also, I was wondering if anyone could share their thoughts on this one please: I am considering setting up a Regular Saver Account. Can this potentially affect my Mortgage Offer (in case they pull it for review)?

Good luck to everyone waiting and fingers crossed!!

Would like to hear peoples opinions, offer accepted 10th Oct and so far the mortgage and valuation has been sorted my end. Currently in a chain of 5 people. Am I being ambitious by hoping to be in my Christmas?!?! I am doing absolutely everything I can my end but there has been some delays with EA (Purple Bricks have been about as useful as a chocolate teapot) they sent the memo of sale to the wrong email address and have been useless at getting back to me about some queries. Luckily my solicitor is very efficient and keeps in touch so I know how things are going. Still awaiting draft contracts from the sellers solicitor and they won't do searches until those documents are received so I will just wait!!

SnowDrop - How come it has taken so long with no chain!?! Bet you just want to get it all done now.

CheeryDaff - I'm sure that mortgage offer will come soon!

It's very hard to be patient and I keep checking my emails every moment so when the weekend comes it's good to know I can just relax but am still frustrated that nothing is getting done!
Who'd every buy a house and voluntarily go through all this eh!!?

Snowdrop I think you'll be fine to set up a regular saver, it can only help to make some interest on your money while you wait Do you know what's holding up your exchange?
RXT I think it's unlikely you'll be in by Christmas if you haven't had the draft contracts yet, my solicitors quoted me 8-10 weeks from when they are received. You could insist that send off for the searches before this though, it's you that's paying for them (and will lose the money of the sale does not proceed).

Well done Chebee, a huge achievement in your area of the country!

We had a second viewing on the flat we are buying yesterday and did some measuring up. Very exciting! Hoping to exchange Weds or Thurs andgive notice on our rented flat!!
