Evening all, after worrying yesterday about not having exchanged and supposed to be completing Thur 27th May, I chased the EA and we exchanged this morning. I am so pleased - thanks for all advice. We accepted an offer on 13th April (no chain), so its only been 6 weeks and I feel incredibly lucky as I did not expect it to go through so smoothly. Thanks again.
    6 weeks!!! Damn that's fast - congratulations :)!

Has anyone got experience with contributing to their buyer´s rental outgoings, in order to make them agree to an earlier completion date? Is this something that can be done? Thx

@Saddlerstu – oh no, so sorry. I hope it’s something simple and that it doesn’t delay you too much.

@Caz_Mnaz – ah jeeeez. Why?! I’m so annoyed for you lovely. I’m sure your seller will wait, a few days delay is going to be yonks quicker than relisting. Hang on in there.

@naomibm – yep, I could have written that myself. Hope you exchange Friday, fingers crossed for you!

@inca1000 – yay, congratulations! So pleased someone has managed it! But wait, 6 weeks, get out, lol! Not jealous at all ha ha (rocks quietly in corner)! Enjoy your new home 😊

@alipops1986 – sounds about right, I am dreading our completion statement, I’m sure it will be full of ‘extras’.

@GioSan – that’s good news. Hope the lender releases the funds quickly for you – fingers crossed!

@goodwithsaving – every single day. They already did threaten it. Or one of our two buyers. It’s so stressful.

@BountyBlink – hope your vendor finds something today – will think positive offer thoughts for them and you!

@Josephgousto – not exactly, but I offered to pay for a van and a storage unit to get my ex out so my sale could complete in time to save my purchase transaction. I think it’s something that’s fairly common, especially at the moment. If it’s going to save you a lot in stamp duty, then it would be worth it.

My update today. Oh wait, there isn't one. Didn't hear a peep from my solicitor yesterday. Not. A. Word. Raging.
Rang first thing this morning, got the usual 'oh, she's on the phone, we'll send her an email to tell her to call you'. As if I haven't already done that myself several times, hence why I am calling. Sigh. It's not going to bloody happen is it? Not this side of the bank holiday, not ever at this rate. It has been 10 days since we agreed the completion date now. 10 days. We should have exchanged last week and yet here we still are. Every single bit of this process has taken ten times as long as it should/could have. I. AM. DONE.

Solicitor's assistant rang me back. They are still waiting for my mortgage redemption statement. It was meant to arrive by fax on Tuesday, but it didn't, so now they've requested another. I'm guessing they didn't even realise or chase that until I phoned this morning, so yesterday was another day wasted with absolutely no progress and had I not phoned today it would have been two days wasted. Why am I having to project manage them?! I am about to lose my **** with them, I really am.

Ohhhh that's so annoying. hopefully now they've pinpointed what the issue is, you'll exchange speedily!

In other news, my god this thread moves fast! I took a couple of days off and it's taken me a few days of reading between working to catch up haha

I'm stuck trying to find a structural engineer who can come out and do my a report on the damaged wall. They're all booked up til July and (obviously) I'm trying to get through before the stamp duty holiday.  Today is yet another day of making calls and project nagging :)

Yep. You can offer an amount, the problem is at this stage you don’t want to be changing your agreed selling figure as that has big implications on changing contracts, mortgage offers etc. Give you selling estate agent a call and ask to speak to manager (if the agent Progressing your sale is a bit wet behind the ears) it might need to be a gentleman’s agreement.
